Nice. What is the DW? I am getting down to finishing a board bow and cringe with each pull after scraping and sanding.

I’m not sure exactly. I have an old spring scale. I think it’s around 45 lbs. I will have to get a full draw pic after while. Any ideas on sealant?

Slayer - Pearl Drums replied to a question I had about alcohol dyes and whether I could add coatings on top of the dye. His reply was, “Feibings leather dye is a great start for the dye and it's cheap enough. Yes, you can apply any type of finish over it. I have used paste wax, various polys and tung oil over it with equally fine results.”

I intend to use Tried & True Danish Oil, which is a polymerized linseed oil. Very specific to the manufacturer (Tried & True) as “Danish Oil” is otherwise vague and varies by manufacturer.

After that, I'll probably try paste wax as advised by PD. The discussion was in the following thread:

So I worked on the handle and made my first successful bowstring. She has a little hand shock so I’m trying to work on that. Just some finish sanding then I will seal her up.

good looking bow, congrats and I know how that feels. Am working on the long string right now on a 62" one. taking my sweet time, no hurries although my mind says otherwise. I will try cooking oil on this one, got plenty of it and it should be great. Good luck with it and shoot straight! Pretty awesome feeling ain't it

Yes it is. I started this bow 2 years ago. Kind of gave up on it a time or two.

Thank you for all the advice. The end result is 40# @ 28”. I guess I got a little scrape happy. Kinda like a young buck come fall. I’m just glad it shoots and I learned a ton on this one and the other two that I ruined. Thanks for all the help guys. Especially Bentstick54. I appreciate it.
