OK, this is new territory for me. A couple weeks ago I injured the ring finger on my string hand. I am not certain, but I think it is a nerve injury. In any case, I cannot use it to draw my bow back, I get pain and then, both my ring and pinky finger are difficult to use. I am not sure how this is going to play out, but I can shoot with my pointer finger and middle finger, but I have very little strength I have not had the greatest of form, and have put most of the strain on my ring finger while shooting trad as long as I can remember.

In any case, I am not strong enough with my fingers to handle a bow of any substantial weight. I have a 35 pound bear tartare that I draw around 40# @ 29 1/2-30”. I was wondering if anybody shoots a similar set up and what arrows they are using. It could be carbon, wood, or aluminum.

like I said, I am not sure how this is going to play out, and I may be shooting this bow for a short time or considerably longer.

Shooting new to me …Big Jim’s Dark Timber shafts 700 spine cut to 29 1/4” with 145 gr tips, with excellent results. My bow weight is 39 @28 and I draw 28”. Should work for you, but you could adjust with tip weight.I shoot a Hoyt excel with Hoyt recurve limbs.

Thanks. I don't think that I can get away with arrows quite that short. I scaled the bow at 42 at my draw, but I may be overdrawing a tad. Probably don't want to go with less than 30". That being said, your bow is almost certainly cut further past center than this bow, so I could get away with a little bit lighter spine.

Keep em coming.

1916 aluminum at 30", with 125-145 tips will work, assuming Dacron string and stick-on rest of some sort. A similar carbon would be about a 650 spine, so I'm guessing the 700 would still work at 30" with 125-145 tips.
