After speaking with Craig and Nate I learned a thing or two about LB's and ordered a Tembo. 64" 43@26. 9 1/2" riser, straight limbs, no tip overlays and all the lams on the back side of the riser.

Every LB I've owned had been at least 66", some up to 69" in length and either backset or string follow. I thought a shorter bow with my draw length would work better for me. Due to work and crappy weather I've not had a lot of time to shoot but the first 5-6 shots had me convinced I made the right choice all the way around.

Fit and finish is just what you'd expect from HH Archery and Craig was patient with my ramblings. Quick, very well-mannered upon release, quiet, quiet, quiet and the green glass is perfect. Anyway, thanks for looking.

I'm just going to re-iterate what has been said. Good looking bow, and like the green glass. Someone educate me. I thought one of the purposes of the tip overlays was to protect and add strength for fast flight type strings. Is that not necessarily the case?

ASL's thick but narrow in the tip

and they lota times have a glass wedge with in the tip

very strong

The glass wedge Andy Man is talking about. This bow is plenty fast enough for me w/o a FF string. B50 is what it came with and I'll get a B55 in a month or two just so I have a back-up string.

My opinions:

There is no need for tip overlays, period.

Tembo is best - less glue, more bamboo.

Except that yew is prettier and just as fast.

Longer is better than shorter.

Grip shape makes little difference in most hands.

Back set and string follow make little difference.

Limb material makes little difference, except that in my long 70" bows I imagine that the lighter material like bamboo or yew might be a trifle quicker and smoother than a heavier material like osage. But the heavier material might be a trifle more stable.

Most people find them comfortable and easy to shoot well. - lbg
