I see a pretty reverse handle longbow in the ads. I have never shot one of these, it looks like it would feel strange in the hand. Are there advantages to this configuration? Thanks, Phil

It strictly depends on who you ask.

Look up northern mist longbows he puts some light on it. pros and cons.

I think they are a little easier too to shoot.

They just look different is all imo. Took me a long time to give in and try one. No regrets!

I have a pretty one, they don’t feel different in your hand to shoot. I do notice that it is less sensitive to lefts and rights

I had one back in the early to mid-1990s. I liked how it felt. The grip just felt better for me.

I have a reverse handle string follow in a McBroom that I certainly like the way it handles and shoots. It just seems “better tamed” for lack of more precise words. But then that’s from an old man with a bad shoulder and who is a contender for the sloppiest release. It is certainly a shooter for me. And I also like the other string follow Liberty and Great Northern Sheltons in the herd. There is just something different about a forward handle in a positive way.

I've owned 4, all JD's Morning Stars. Some guys like 'em some don't. Some folks think they're harder to torque. Don't know of any advantages or disadvantages, I liked how it brought the arrow closer to the web of my hand on the shelf.

I think Jeff, Bodymanbowyer, made one and IF I remember correctly he did not think it made much difference. He makes a really nice ASL, and a bowyer who I trust beyond any. Most likely, like a lot of bows nd folks. Just something different, not necessarily any advantage or disadvantage.

Supposedly they are less prone to the torque effect on release. I like them.

I had one of Harry Elburg's reverse handle longbows back in the late 80's or early 90's. The feel is different and I shot it well, so I wouldn't personally hesitate to have one again.

Love 'em. I've had a bunch over the years... starting with a Thunderhorn coup stick about 22 years ago. Favorites are the Elburg models of which I've had many.... especially the original Jaguars.

Nice Jaguars and looks like back set to them too, ottertails

Wayne, they are great bows, smooth, plenty fast, come on point quickly, easy to be accurate with when having to shoot fast. Sleek, no frills, elegant bows.

Yes I Like forward riser Long Bows, I think they are the deflex riser of longbows, As the deflex riser of Recurves . That’s the way I look at it. Good Shooting.

Had a Northern Mist Whisper.

Personally, didn't feel right.

Traded it for a Howatt Vigilante.

Believe I got the better end of the deal.

Elburg,Red Elm and Bamboo.

Those jaguars look pretty cool imo. Also like JD Berry’s valor and any of the NM designs. I lie when they don’t have pointy spots like some on the riser section of that makes any sense.

Cut it out....I know what you're saying. That type of handle does look like it's backwards like many have said. I have a Valor also, great bow!

Wilburness....nice! I like the broom handle on that one. For me, those grips like Elburgs and Great Northerns...tho the GNs are not reverse, are quick, roll into the sweet spot when drawing for when quick shots on game present themselves.

Brace height, draw length don’t change so once held I didnt feel any difference.

The reverse handle gets the shot off quick. And it's joy to carry.
