No this isn’t a troll. So everything I read says to take the weak bare shafts and cut them off a little at a time to get them to come back to the left toward my vertical line .I also have to make the same adjustment to my fletched shafts. They are already hitting left of the bareshafts. Won’t that just make em shoot further left? I must be doing something wrong

3 Rivers has an easy to understand bare shaft/fletched shaft chart. It's one page. Take a screen pic on your cell and save it in your photos.

If b-s are hitting left of fletched, they’re stiffer than fletched. It’s possible it’s your form, you’re probably short drawing or torquing the bow.

"to take the weak bare shafts and cut them off a little at a time to get them to come back to the left toward my vertical line." Do you mean "right" to your vertical line, or are you a lefty? A shaft that's impacting left (for a right hand shooter) is too stiff. Cutting it off will make it stiffer.

BS are hitting right of fletched. My bare shafts are hitting right of the vertical line which means weak shaft. My same fletched arrows are hitting left of the vertical arrow. Maybe I said it wrong. But if I do the same thing to each arrow my fletched shafts will keep hitting left.

That’s why some leave bare shafts a little weak cause feathers stiffen them up a bit

JJ. You said it correctly. I just had a different picture in my head. Yes, an arrow impacting right (for a right hand shooter) is weak and shortening it does stiffen it and should bring it back left.

Your Fletched arrows are hitting Center (to the left of Bare) because they are not getting steered off course DESPITE being weak.
The Bare are hitting to the right BECAUSE they are weak and have nothing to hide that.
If you shorten/stiffen them ALL, Fletched will continue to hit Center (because there is even less correction needed) and Bare will come left because they are not being steered Wrong by being Weak Or at least not as much. If you keep cutting down both sets, your Bares will eventually start to hit Left of Fletched because they have become too stiff.
Fletchings can only CORRECT an issue; they cannot create one where none exists. If your Fletched arrows hit left of the mark, you have an aiming error. Don’t do anything else until you have resolved that, because you’ll be wasting time, money and perfectly good shafting.

If you don't want to cut them yet due to insecurity in the decision making/tuning process just build out your sideplate on the sight window. It will accomplish the same thing.

In my opinion, bare shaft tuning is to make the bare shaft fly straight,…not to determine the impact point of it. You should shoot the shaft thru paper at about 10 to 15 ft and you can see which way the shaft is kicking and cut the shaft or add point weight as necessary. For a right handed shooter nock left is week, nock right is stiff.
Point of impact is usually shelf or aiming problems.

But if it flies straight…. It’s going to hit wherever you point it…

Thanks guys. I watched Ken Becks video again today and went that route. I have feathers cut off down to the quilt and have that arrow shooting straight as the proverbial arrow. I shot it all afternoon and It shot great. I may shoot in this weekend at a 3D shoot with my buddies it shot that good. Now I will get another arrow and add feathers and see what happens. This is the first time in 35 years I could get an arrow without feathers to fly that good. I did cheat by leaving the quill on as Mr Beck recommended to make sure I was not bumping the arrow off the rest.

I suggest cutting yer fletched arrahs a little longer. If you cut them twice and they’re still too short, yer prolly gunna need to start over with new shafts.
Just my 2 cents...

I just bare shaft to get the shafts to fly straight. When they fly straight they are the proper spine. Then I tune the fletched arrows or the bow to hit where I want them to hit on the target. Works for me.
