We used to have the Kings Hill Broadhead Shoot third weekend in July or they’re about. Two days of shooting etc. on Sunday we shot broadheads. That went away out of fear that we’d get sued.

Still a great shoot just with field tips.

High in the Little Belts - bring big dope!

I've not been to any Northwest archery shoots, but I was always interested in the Moses Lake shoot. We visited that area about three different times in our travels back in the late 90's and early 2000's. I even had an invite to come hunt elk on the east side of the Cascades up above the Wenatchee area. It's beautiful country there.

the best set up course and most enjoyable for me was the realistic sets at the Roanoke(STAR ) shoot

and the Baltimore shoot right there with it

the old Denton hill was also nice

not fond of the straight down the ally set ups

You guys gotta look at a map. PACIFIC NORTHWEST does not include PA, MD, VA, etc.

Another vote for Star in Roanoke Va. Held in June and just a great shoot. Look for Sherwood archers on the internet.

The shot distances at he N.A.L.S. varies a lot. But it's longbow only, wood arrows and two bladed broadheads only. One year At Golden Alberta most of the shots were 40+ and it rained hard the whole time. I had the priveledge of shooting with Ed Kellow. He put 45 of 50 in the center of the kill. I asked him how he could do it . He said his arrows were perfectly spined to the bow + or minus 0 . All arrows were perfectly straight and all weighed plus or minus 1 grain. He could do this because he had a friend who had a shaft making business. I asked him how he could get his arrows to fly in the rain with wet fletching. His reply was no fletching required because of his perfect arrows. Ed won the first John Dodge arrow making contest at the NAls and won the shoot several times when scores were posted. {pre 1996 }|

The Moses Lake Rock Shoot this year is April 28-30. Most shots are realistic distances, 15-30 yards but some backstops can be be, shall we say, kind of unforgiving. There are usually a few long shots at big Elk targets and some trick shots like skipping your arrow off a piece of plywood into the target. But remember, this is a fun shoot… if you dont like a shot then walk up, pass it by or just let’er rip. The only competitive part is the ‘One arrow’ shoot: everyone chips a few bucks in the pot and starts with just one arrow. Bust your arrow, you’re out, but as long as you can field repair the arrow you’re still in. High score surviving the round takes most of the pot, 2nd and 3rd shares the remainder. Lots of yuks along the way.

Plenty of acres the dry camping, RV’s or tents . Campfires galore in the evening too. C’mon and make some new friends!

**** pic: Scotsman’s granddaughter. She’s fearless with her arrows cuz she knows grandpa will make more….

Dave is right, I try to keep them to that 15-35 yard range. Most of the range is set up with the idea of messing with you mind. Stuff in the way, sheep out in the open but with a wide open bowl. If you miss. They are all doable, aim small, miss small, nothing but foam. There are 4 loops 2 challenging, 1 fairly flat and 1 for kids, the young kind and the old kind.
