Well, i’m sitting in the Masters shop as i make this thread. Jim sure outdid himself on this build. I couldn’t be any happier and what a craftsmen he is. I shot it and man is this stringfollow Redtail smooooooth on the draw and still handles a heavy wood arrow. The bow is 68” and 50@28, 5 lambs of yew, myrtle riser, green and light gray glass with a hand rubber high gloss finish. Jim is the man!

Good bow, Nice , Jim told me he put the last stroke of polish on it , wondering how quick you would come to pick the bow up. That’s pretty Quick Yewbender. Gary let US know how it shoots compared to your other ones. Enjoy

From: Yewbender

Evan, doing well and hope you are too brother.

Wayne, it is different then the backset ones as ofcourse they have more umph on the shot but the string follow does shoot my heavy cedars well. It also is much smoother on the draw and the backset bows draw smooth. Now i need to start shooting more!!!

From: flint kemper

Ok guys. I don’t need another bow I don’t need another bow. So let’s talk shooting and feel of the standard versus the string follow model. Can you compare it to a Northern Mist? If anyone in Texas has a red tail around Dallas I would love to shoot one. Thanks

From: Yewbender
Date: 06-Feb-23

Brandon, if you don’t have a Classic you need one. The stringfollow is unreal. Go with 5 lambs of yew/myrtle handle/ color glass of your choise and high gloss hand rubbed finish. You will have a beautiful shooting bow with the price tag…$700ish!!! Hope this helps plus a great looking bow sock with your name on it!!!

From: Yewbender
Date: 06-Feb-23

Flint, Steve at NM is the man and i have 2 NM Classics(backset). One i picked up used and the other i had build. The one Steve build me is yew/myrtle/carmel glass with satin finish. The used one is bamboo/forget handle wood/ clear glass but the yew/myrtle bow is hands down my favorite NM i have. Steve has many years under his belt but Jim’s Redtails are no slouch. I have shot many different ASL’s and I will put Jim’s up there with the best!

So the easiest way i can say is backset(reflex) bows will have more power, less forgiving with not a clean release, and smooth draw. The stringfollow(deflex) lil less power, more forgiving, and smoother draw…that’s my take with shooting them and i’m sure others can explain it way better then me. All my ASL’s have 14/15 strand B50 strings and i only shoot woods. As to shooting them they have the same feel in the hand to me…no handshock and just a pleasure to shoot. To bad you didn’t live in Pa cause i have 9 ASL’s from Mahantango/Northern Mist/ Howard Hill Archery/ and John Schulz that you could try from 50 to 62#s. OH AND YESSSS YOU NEED ANOTHER BOW LOL!!!
