Does Mathews still make a recurve bow. Seems to me they use to. I saw Dan Fitzgerald shooting one tonight.

They made a long bow. Not aware of a recurve

I seem to remember Mathews producing a very limited number of what they called Heritage series longbows and recurves. They were built off the Sky Archery forms after Mathews bought them out. Didn't last long, not many made. Price was ridiculously high, especially for that time. Around 2004, I think, and the longbow was $799. I am sure there was a recurve, similar in profile to the Hoyt ProHunter and Bear KodiakHunter. Both bows were Rosewood, I believe, with bamboo limbs.

Matt McPherson in the early 70s made Recurves and compounds. Starting McPherson archery then later in 1992 became mathews.

In 1989 he sold McPherson. he started building bows at age 13 in his mother garage. He was also the one to take 50% let off to 70% before he sold the company. He still Owens mathews today, don't remember a mathews recurve but I do remember the longbow.

I remember the recurve that was sold along with the longbow

I have one. It is a beautiful bow faced with bamboo front & back, rose wood riser & overlays. It is the only one I have ever seen. >>>----> Ken

Sorry I didn't read carefully. My Mathews is a longbow with a slight deflex reflex. >>>----> Ken

Matt built the Heritage longbow, but not a recurve. The longbow was sold in a display box with a dozen wood arrows. The longbow was a special order bow, and he only built a few of them. Joel Maxfield from Mathews still hunts with his longbow from time to time shooting bamboo arrows.

Mathews made both Recurve and longbows, they bought Sky archey from Ann Hoyt after Earl passed. There is a 2008 catalog available on the web with some pictures.

They actually made three Mathews bows, a recurve, a longbow with a slight bit of r/d, and a more aggressive one. They were/are very easy on the eyes.

I don't remember a recurve. Mathews approached me to make their arrows, which I did. Unfortunately, I didn't sign contract with them. When I asked if they had a ballpark figure on numbers, I was told they expected to sell 200 at the ATA shot show. As I remember I completed maybe 12 dozen. I ordered enough materials for 100 dozen, glad I didn't order more!

I had a mathews Longbow and a guy I used to see at shoots had a mathews recurve. My Longbow I had to send back twice because the finish flaked off.The guy with the recurve had it blow up twice.

Mathews made a recurve that was available in one length, a hybrid that was available in 3 lengths, and a straight longbow that was available in 3 lengths.

This one is a beautiful bow with a beautiful finish. Maybe I just got lucky. The one above it is the only other one I have ever seen. >>>>------> Ken
