Need some suggestions from anyone who uses a climber for hunting with your longbow. Appreciate any suggestions, from use yourself, or someone you are close to. Thanks!

Lone wolf sit and climb. Bar is down out of way but easyer to climb then hand climber and safer. Age and physical ability can play a roll when using climbers.

This subject is one that is tough. Most climbers offered today simply don't suit most bare bow shooters/hunters. I still own multiple climbers, and her is some you may to keep an eye out for in the used market: Lone Wolf, Loggy Bayou, Summit Clear Shot. In the brand new market the Summit Open Shot is about it these days. However Lone Wolf is coming out with a new climber, and it looks nice, however it carries a very heavy price tag from what I have read. Your best option without destroying your wallet is the Summit Open Shot.

You can add a strap to the open shot to make it a sit and climb.

I have the Summit Bushmaster which is basically the previous version of the Open Shot. The seat section arms are just slightly longer. I do have to watch my bow on shots to my left to make sure it doesn't hit seat. Personally I'm not a fan of any climber. I have one for travelling or for scouting when I want to checkout an area. Otherwise I use hang ons or ladder stands.

any of the Lone Wolf climbers.

I've used a Summit Viper, like the Cadillac of treestands, ultra comfortable. If I did it over again, Summit Open Shot for sure.

I love a Summit Viper or Goliath for bow hunting trad or otherwise. I use the surround bar to carry the bow up and back and to lay the bow on arrow up while hunting as well. The bar never gets in my shooting way unless the deer is in the 3yd and under range in which case you should have shot sooner or be very very quiet and they won't be there long lol.

Why would you need a special one for a longbow? Just curious.

I bought a Summit Goliath this season and was very pleased with it, no problem shooting my 68 inch longbow.

Lone Wolf and Tree Lounge. Both work for me.

Summit Viper. Super comfortable. Set the top portion so it is under your arm pits when you stand up to shoot. then you can lean out against it without hitting the stand. I know longer use the climber but it worked when I did

I don't use a tree stand anymore. Off topic I know. Not only am I too old, but the "ease" of taking a deer from an elevated position has fled from me and replaced by a dying need to kill. Certainly not boasting but I've taken too many from a tree. Success for a day hunting means privacy closer to my Creator and His wildwood. Last season I even passed on a 4 pointer with my longbow at 12 yards on the ground. Didn't need to shorten his days like I once did. Gutting, dragging, transporting, butchering no longer excites me. Enjoy your endeavors while you can - you might get like me someday.

I do very little climbing because I’m either on the ground or in a loc- on. However- when I do climb I use an open shot. Its a great little stand.

The question was asked earlier in this thread why there would be a need for a special climber. For me, and some others I feel any bars such as a wrap around sit & climb bar, or arm rests simply get in my way. I like a fully unobstructed area in front of me, and to the sides to swing my bow. I usually take my safety harness, and adjust everything so that if I am sitting I can lean forward, and it has tension on it so I can't fall. This usually also allows me to stand, and move forward with tension on the harness allowing me a feeling of safety when I draw, and shoot. I detest bars, and arm rests on my bow hunting stands. I hope this helps answer the question as to why some prefer a so called special stand.

Love my lone wolf sit & climb. The bar you sit on to climb can go under the seat or you can leave it out. I leave it out as I stand a lot. You can back up to it for shots behind the tree and fold it down to your shins for shots in front. And I just like the security of to there.
