Folks, the 19th Annual Howard Hill Classic will be a four day event this year. The dates are June 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 2023. Always held at beautiful Tannehill Historical State Park, www.tannehillstatepark.org

There will be the Championship Shoot Downs on Saturday afternoon, along with Rhonda’s “Luck of the Draw” Shoot Down for those that don’t make the Championship Shoot Down. Her event is especially for those just getting started in our wonderful sport.

You don’t want to miss this year’s event, BECAUSE, you’ll be the first of those that will find out what will be coming for the 20th Anniversary of the Howard Hill Classic, 2024.

Much more information to come between now and June folks!

Folks, our traditional archery friend, Randy Knight has gotten 8 traditional bows from Maddog Bows. Four youth boys bow at 20 lbs and four for youth girls at 15 lbs.

We don't know yet how these bows will get into their hands, but we certainly would like to get them into hands that don't yet have a bow.

How cool is this, AND how cool is Mr. Randy Knight.

Yeah, Terry, I sent half of them to Randy last week and I'll send the other 4 to him tomorrow. They're done.

Mike, the photo Randy sent me of the bows he has is great. If possible, can you give some info on your youth bows, and photos here as well.

Love for ya to come visit the HH Classic, or even set up as a Vendor if you'd like.

If you have never attended one of the Howard Hill events, you are missing one of the best. Terry and his team work year round to make sure every little element of the event is ready and prepared. He has plenty of vendors there for your archery needs and has the coolest awards of them all. This is a good one, don't miss it. I hope my old legs hold out long enough to get around the course. Hope to see you in June Terry and team!

Glad I hang with John Sullins and his views. When I see Terry at other shoots promoting Traditional Archery and The Howard Hill Shoot well........ I tell him, " I did not know you were having this shoot? Still having it?" Lucky I know John. Local Story right Terry? :)) Well worth attending in Alabama!

Folks, spoke with my friend Randy Grider, the event coordinator for the Kentucky TradFest.

He is also sending me two recurves, 25# draw weight. That will be 6 bows that need to find their way into some lucky youngsters hands.

Folks, that is SIX bows that hopefully will get into some young and beginners hands.

Thank you again Randy Knight & Randy Grider, two outstanding gentlemen we have in our wonderful sport.

Thankyou Terry. Did not mind at all donating the bows. You have done a great job over the years promoting the sport through your shoot, and getting the word out about other big archery events. All that work gets more people intrested, and involved.

Just a small token of my appreciation. Good for you, good for intrested beginners, good for the sport. I really had no choice !

Here are the Championship Shoot Down formats:

Of course, this year’s event starts on Thursday, so, the first round card still has to be turned in before you get another card if you’re trying to qualify for Saturday’s Shoot Downs. All first round cards have to be turned in by 2 PM on Saturday.

The Men’s Longbow & Recurve along with the Women’s Longbow & Recurve will again be combined. This part of the Championship Shoot Down is sponsored by Traditional Bowhunter Magazine and the American Traditional Archer. We’ll take the top 10 shooters scores from both of the men’s longbow and recurve shooters and the top 10 of the women’s longbow and recurve shooters, a total of 20 shooters for each shoot down. The 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners will come from those combined 20 shooters from the men and women.

We’ll take the top 10 shooters from the Men’s Seniors and the top 10 of the Men’s Super Seniors, all then will compete against one another. The 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners will come from these combined 20 shooters.

The Men’s Self Bow Shooters, we’ll take the top 10 shooters as well. The 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners will come from these 10 shooters.

THEN, the three winners from the Shoot Downs will compete for the American Traditional Archer “Top Shot” award. One for the Men and one for the Women.

1st Place, Bear “Montana Longbow” or “Grizzly Recurve”, Men & Women’s Winner’s Choice

2nd Place Receives $100.00 & 3rd Place Receives $75.00

Now is the time for us to get our friends, spouses as well as to promote those that we might feel that would be interested in our wonderful sport.

Getting calls, emails, and PM's about the HH Classic. Most have never been here.

I'm hoping this is a good sign for all events coming up.
