Just thought I would not clutter up the other BQ threads but these photos are so cool! This is why a few of us are so passionate about this gear. It used to be "The way" remember so it can work if you want it.

Interesting pics. Brings up some good memories. I wonder about the fella in the eighth pic above this post, however. He's a righty, but his quiver i positioned for a lefty.

Was that Bob Lee shooting the gator? And one of those I think was Guy Madison?
Cool pics!

That eighth one up is The Robin Hood actor Rathbone. He was taught by Howard also, but had an injury that prevented him from reaching back so he “made it work”

I love looking at these old pictures, which brings me to question I often had. I realize that most of these pictures are black and white, so it's a little hard to know the exact colors of the clothes some of them wore, but I have always noticed that many of the old time bowhunters like Howard Hill for instance appears to always wear solid colors, not even a checkered print, it seems.
Camo is overrated, I know or at least believe it to be, to a great extent, and I know camo clothing was not used much back in the day, but did these old-time hunters really hunt mostly in what looks like solid colors that don't seem to blend in much at all with the landscape?

At first they had plaid... then some experimented with camo like Howard Hill himself did. Of course he was into making it himself. You can see in these photos the "mottled" hoe made camo as he bleached portions of his clothes. My guess is this was a little influence of Swinehart who started wearing military camo after his service. Bob even liked to camo his bow at times. Here are some pics: bob in camo with Howard in mottled sweater and pants.

Howard's pants here...could be blood or another camo attempt. Hard to tell here.

Here is another where Mr. Hill actually has on a commercial camo hat along with his home made camp outfit. I noticed most of these photos are when he was hunting with Swinehart.

a newer one from Nate Steen just about identical to the Schulz
if really want to use a back quiver and invest the time to learn and be comfortable with one I would recommend the Sunset Hill
definately don't want a bunch of crap on it and fur inside
I have been using one so long I don't even think about it

Black Spot. Yes, that's Bob Lee shooting the gator. I've seen that picture I think, on their website.

I've owned 2 back quivers in my life. One is a CatquiverII when they were first offered and the other is a HH back quiver I bought in 68 that I still own and use on the rare occasion. The HH was old when I bought it from the original owner who ran an archery shop out of his garage in my hometown. stay safe
