I just scored some off auction site. I've only used Eastons in the past -- does anyone have any experiences or knowledge on these? I'm guessing they are pretty old.

Thanks!

If I recall correctly they were called "Metric Magnums" and first came out in the mid-late 1960s. Also, weren't they the "X-7" alloy and not the 24SRTX or X-75 alloy? Mentioning them brings back memories,...long time ago. I shot the .308 for a few years back in the day.

I used them for hunting and they worked Great. They were heavier than Eastons and penetrated better. The metal was softer and bent easier.

I still have some of those camo shafts. Writing is in yellow ink, same for small “Bear” logo. I doubt they are Easton shafts. Metric Mag are brown in color and marked like Easton shafts. There was a Korean co making aluminum shafts back in the 80’s. Some were camo, some were black, some were fluted. There was even some grey ones. My son and I used a bunch of them, him mostly. Still have some of his grey ones. They are 2219’s which is for a man’s bow, that’s not me anymore or him.

Used up a lot of the .316's back in the 70's when I shot heavier bows, woodchucks, rabbits, raccoons and carp all fell victim to them. Wish I had some left for my aluminum arrow pile.

There was Magnums and Metric Magnums. And a few other named aluminum arrows.

Even though they were made for Bear Archery, I’m pretty sure they were an Easton product.

Metric mags and metric hunters were solid colors. It's quite likely that Easton made Bear's arrows, they had the facility to handle large companies like Bear.

Best I could do with a picture. The ink is pretty faded. Been racking my mind trying to recall when I got these. Thinking 1986 . I had a Black Widow I was using them out of.

Sorry for lousy picture.

That pic looks like original camo hunters. I think Bear aluminums were solid colors like George has noted.

Bear Archery did sell some camo aluminum arrows in 1987 and 1988. They were called Hunter Camos and were 1215 series. But they were discontinued at the end of 1988. They were considered an economical arrow.

Nemo, is 1215 referring to the aluminum used?

I will be pleased if they end up being a bit heavier than my xx75 camo hunters. It’s too bad if they bend more easily though. I have indeed managed to bend several of my camo hunters over the years — I wonder how these will hold up.

Here's some pics of what I got. The camo pattern does not match my current camo hunters, but they may have been using something else in the 80's. They were about half the price of new arrows.

Bear first came out with the converta point magnum arrows in the late sixties, they were easton x7 alloy in a silver grey color, then a few years later they came out with the metric magnums, which were XX75's.

The Bear camp’s are not as strong as the metric mag arrows. We proved that many times over. The camo’s bent easier that’s for sure. I still doubt they were Easton shafts as I remember that Korean company that was trying to compete with Easton. I bought a bunch of them from a store in San Diego but they were black and said magnum with the size. Bet I have at least one in the junk box.

Bear was selling Easton aluminums as early as 1963 and xx-75's by 1965.

Actually, Bear Archery was selling Easton Aluminum arrows back in 1951. They were 24SRTX aluminum alloy. The attached picture is from the 1951 Bear Archery catalog.

They were called XA-400T and F. And XA-400-H.

I have a few of the green Bear metric arrows from the 60s. I got them with a 1966 Polar. They have nib points and blue and yellow feathers. bvd
