I am building a 56 inch reflects deflex long bow 37#

Still have to give it final sanding and a finish.

I shot a few arrows out of it. It shoots vary nice but is kind of loud (like a bong sound) I have the brace hight set at 7 1/4 inch. Would adjusting brace hight quite it down

I tried sending a picture, but it won’t work. I don’t know why.

4-G -

Are you sure it's the bow???

LB's by nature are typically quiet, but an overly stiff arrow may smack the riser and sound like it's the bow. If that's the case, then yes, a taller brace height might help, or you could try weaker arrows.

Disclaimer: that holds for production bows and basic Physics, home grown stuff might be another story.

Viper out.

I was shooting 500 spine arows that are tuned for my 47# bow I will try some 600 spine arows

have you tried a heavier arrow? that always works for me. Good luck.

String length & material, tiller, spine/center cut dim, arrow weight. In about that order for me. The right combo is always quiet on a longbow. >>>----> Ken

Using a heavy arrow is curing the symptom, not the cause. First to check is do have reasonable tiller so the string ends are closing at the same time? Are you adjusting brace first to find the "magic" height? Then look at arrows. Fix the problem.

try 700 full lenth 145gr.

Gluetrap has it. 600's barely work for 40# and that is with the tip loaded.

I have both limbs tailored the same. Should I give it a negative tiller with the bottom, limb stiffer than the top limb? I shoot three under.

You need to get some proper arrows first before you make any tiller changes.

The noise in all likelihood is being caused by the extremely stiff arrows making contact with the sight window/shelf.

Are accustomed to shooting 3 under, or is this new?

No I’ve always shot 3 under

Bottom limb stiffer is positive tiller, and yes you should, by about 1/8".

Viper he shoots 3 under?? >>>----> Ken

Ken -

Yes, I know. Set Std tiller and tune with the nocking point.

Why would you set positive tiller like for split then use a high nocking point? Anytime I shoot a bow 3 under, with 1/8"positive tiller,it is noisy & or requires a higher than normal nocking point. I move the tiller to even or a bit negative to quieten it. What am I missing? >>>----> Ken
