This may be reaching but hear me out, you duck hunters know what a jerk string is. Hunting on the ground, when are you most likely to get busted? When you draw right? So say you have a 20 lb mono line that goes 30 yards or so past where you’re expecting the deer to pass , like a hole in a fence and just when you are to draw you have the mono tied to a limb etc and move it slightly, just enough to make the deer look in that direction? Just an embryo of an idea.

Stringing a line would be adding your scent on the ground IMO. Never a good idea. At least the ducks don't smell it.

I used such a line with great success as a kid duck hunting still waters to get a wooden decoy to bobble, but it seems it could mess up a bow shot. It would have to be strung high or away from any vegetation, or it might wiggle the stuff right next to you by mistake and then you likely are busted. Too many moving parts it seems like, but I did like the idea and it has made me think.

I really don't see why it wouldn't get their attention. Now....what affect that it would have is the thing. And the only way to know that is to try it.

I have rigged Mono to create a little tail movement on a decoy. Scent trail, well you are placing the decoy anyway. A little eye screw near bottom of leg to run the mono down the along the ground. That would work for a tree branch too. It might be as apt to spook the deer as drawing it's attention. Also was not messing with it at the shot, only when the deer was at a distance, to attract it.>>>---->Ken

We used to do that all the time when calling varmints to get them into bow range. Learned it from Murray Burnham.

Jerk line with a white cotton rag in he middle of a field, works real well on coyotes and bobcats. Seems between the call and the motion, most can't resist it. The affects on deer??? I think that would also depend on how pressured the deer are where you hunt.
