How many guys have switched from the standard straps that come with tree steps to the amsteel rope kits? I know they are lighter and you are able to eliminate the steel buckle but do you find it easier to attach steps to the tree? Thanks

You can do the buckle less method with the strap too. Just wrap the strap behind the loop 2 or 3 times. It holds me just fine and I’m 220.
If you think a little more security is needed, do a half hitch after wrapping.

I use daisy chain. Mine are 2 pieces of strap stitched together every 2 or 3in. Wrap around tree and slip over stick button and pull down on stick to lock in. YouTube daisy chain hunting sticks. There alot different types out there. No metal to bang around and easy to put on and take off.

I use the amsteel that comes on the Tethrd one sticks but prior to that I used amsteel daisy chains and then amsteel ropes on my climbing sticks until I discovered the “buckle less” method that MP mentioned. You can also use 6mm accessory cord which is good go between amsteel and a cam buckle.

Lots of videos showing comparisons and so far the straps when hands down. The buckle is first and the buckless second.

Guys, he's talking about tree steps, not sticks!
Greg, I'm still using straps on my Pioneer steps. Amsteel daisy chains look like a great way to eliminate the metal buckles but that's a lot of knot work to deal with and buying pre-made daisy chains can get kinda pricey.

Well if we’re talking about steps then…OCB buckles are the way to go!

I've switched to using it on my Lone Wolf tree sticks.
