Here are some local hotels and restaurants at exit 172 in Dickson. These are all about 15 minutes away from Buck Hollow. Also Montgomery Bell State park (also about 15 min away on hwy 70) is an excellent park with full electrical and water hookups for big campers if you need electric and water. We will have primitive camping at BHB with fire wood provided, we have a water source and a one person shower that is first come first serve. We have great food served from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm during the days of the shoot. We actually have neighbors that show up on our open shoot days just to eat. It will be here before we know it!

We had a great turn out for our annual Christmas for Kids shoot at Buck Hollow on the 10th. Entry fee was a new unwrapped toy to shoot the course. We filled up a fullsize F-150 with a topper on it from the floor to the roof. All the toys were donated to the YMCA/Help center. Our Archery family is awesome. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and we will see you soon ant Buck Hollow! God is Good!

I intend to be there! Got a little camper to bring this year, then south to the TBOF shoot in Florida !

Couple questions, is there firewood available? How early can we arrive? Can we camp sunday night ?

Thanks !

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 16-Jan-23

Randy I know they have fire wood but not sure on the Sunday night camping, I would say probably yes but am sure Goober will chime in on this. Pappy

From: CrowFoot Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 16-Jan-23

Thanks Pappy. Randy, there will be plenty of firewood there, we also have a one-person shower that most folks don't know about. It is there for all to use, first come first serve. We will be over there all week leading up to it. We have had folks show up and set up camp on Thursday and that is fine. When are you wanting to arrive? And yes, on staying Sunday. We usually have one or two that stay Sunday night and roll out on Monday. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I would like to donate a Black Hunter td recurve, 6 carbon arrows, and quiveras a set. You guys can raffle it to raise money, or some type drawing. Its 30# draw weight, so would work for kids as well as adults. Just my way to help out, but mostly to get a complete setup in the hands of a child, or beginner in need.

I would post a pic, but it is being shipped. I will post a pic as soon as I get it.

From: CrowFoot Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

That is awesome Randy, we really appreciate that and I love the intention for the donation. I too want to see it in the hands of a newbie and to get them shooting and loving it like we love it. Thanks!

Thanks for the pictures, Roger Therber. Thanks Randy Grider for that donation, I'm going to post that picture on our face book page, we will have a seperate drawing for that. You will have to be a newbie or a youth to be eligible. Thats awesome man!

From: r.grider
Date: 09-Feb-23

Thats awesome Crowfoot! Its why i picked that poundage, it will work for about anyone. A kid with a short draw length may only get 20#’s out of it, yet as they grow, and their draw length grows, they will get more poundage, and can shoot it into adulthood.

I think thats a key ingredient for any new archer, light poindage.

LongHunter, there is no Bare Bow class, all the others you mentioned are correct for men as well as for women. we also have a mens and womens senior, youth trad, Junior trad cub and peewee. We actually have 13 classes now and we give plaques out for 1st 2nd and 3rd to each class except peewee, we have some medals for the little ones. You can shoot multiple classes, full price for your 1st entry and if you want to shoot another class it will cost you another 10 bucks. Only your first round counts for score. You can shoot as many rounds as you want once you are registered. You may take home a few of these? We went with a slice of elm and some laser engraved plaques this year, they look amazing! Hope you make it down.

time to sweep the porch crowfoot

From: r.grider
Date: 10-Feb-23

Thats exactly how it works at our shoot. We finnish putting targets away, and cleaning up, we sit on the porch and say “well, thats another one under our belts. Any suggestions on ways to improve next year?”

Then we usually spend an hour and a half hashing it out. It gets easier as the years go, except we get older.

Id encourage every club to get more youngsters involved, because one day we will be dead or unable.

Sadly, we are not having much luck with that.

Everyone that helped set targets today was 58-70 years old.

Makes ya think.

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 11-Feb-23

Thanks Goob, ya that is kind of where we are at Randy, lots of old guys, we all love it but not sure how long we will be able, as they say"do the math" Buck hollow is lucky to have some young folks involved that will carry them on for a long while, that is a Blessing for sure. Pappy

First time there wife and I had a great time. Course was a freaking hoot to shoot! Will be back next year little over an hour away from our farm.

Memories

The laughter on the course was contagious Big groups letting smaller groups shoot through. The courtesy that Buck Hollow members extended to everyone was a real breath of fresh air. We won twice at the raffle and had a great discussion on the correct way of pronouncing ya'll over by the black bucks and getting to bang the going on the pronghorn shot lol

Great job Buck Hollow

Man we cant thank everyone who came out and supported us enough. It was a great shoot and for the 5th year in a row we have grown. We almost reached 400 registered shooters this year. I believe next year we may do it. Tell your friends about us. You guys keep coming and we will keep making it better! From all of us at Buck Hollow Thanks so, so, much.

Corey, Good to see you again! Congrats on placing in your division, I'm thinking 2nd place?

Averaging, if I remember correctly, a ten+ for 40 targets! Great shooting
