I've had both, still have a Head Ski one since it was more comfortable for me. I don't remember much difference in BH. It varies from shooter to shooter anyway.

Looking at both a 1969 and a 1970 Wing catalog (which was within Head Ski era), the catalog recommends 8.5" to 9.25". Interestingly enough, the 1967 catalog says 8.25" to 9.25", which I think is pre- Head (at least the catalog doesn't refer to Head Ski).

1965 Wing catalog says 6.5 to 7.5 inches - that can't be right.... .

An old one that I owned worked best with an 8.5 inch brace. It was a nice bow ,but to heavy for me in later years.

The brace was measured differently. Take a good look at the catalogs. The high brace spec was measured from the deep part of grip. The low Brace spec numbers were measured from the string side of the sight window.

Golden trout take a look at page 15 of your 1965 catalog it shows a more reasonable 7 1/4 to 8" contradicts the add spec on page 5. The diagram shows the Brace measured from riser sight window not deepest part of grip.

The original Wings from the 1960s with rosewood risers and small tips shot with a lower brace height. In the 1970s pre Head Ski they changed something besides the riser woods and tip size, those bows just shot differently.

Factory recommended brace heights for Red Wing Hunters can be very confusing since Wing did not officially adopt AMO standards until 1968. Before 1967, Wing measured brace height from the back (face side) of the bow's overdraw edge to the string. In 1967 and after, Wing measured brace height from the pivot point of the grip to the string. Red Wing Hunters made in 1967 (when Wing was located in Jacksonville, TX) have a recommended brace height of 8 1/4" to 9 1/4". Head Ski Red Wing Hunters have a recommended brace height of 8 1/2" to 9 1/4". AMF Red Wing Hunters have a recommended brace height of 8" to 9". Earlier Red
Wing Hunters have the following brace heights: '61/'62 is 9" to 10 1/2"; '63/'64 is 6 1/2" to 7 1/2"; '65/'66 is 7 1/4" to 8"
You will need to look at decals/silk screens, limb tips, type of wood, address of Wing on bow, grip shape, ownership of Wing by Head Ski or AMF along with the type of serial number used to determine when your bow was made. Posting pictures of your bow will allow others to help you with the year if unsure.
