Even though I’m way more patient now, I can’t wait for this bow to get here, hopefully in one piece. I bought a York, 70” D-section, horn nocked, Osage self-bow with sapwood backing. I remember reading about bows like this, but I’ve never seen one. It was on consignment with RMS Gear, and I made an offer the owner accepted. So now I wait. Man law pic when it arrives.

I cheated and did a search for your York bow.

It went straight to RMS, quite a few selfbows for sale.

Will have to wait as well.

Hi Buzz, As soon as I completed the purchase, RMS removed the ad. I have a screenshot of the RMS photo, but I’d rather not post It bc It’s unstrung.

I bet thew bow is yew and not osage, you will know for sure when it arrives.

Everybody says that, but this why I know it’s Osage. Yew doesn’t have this kind of grain.

I saw the up close pics when it was on RMS. Close look at the grain looked nothing like yew. Definite early wood growth rings.

So the 70” York Osage longbow showed up just in time to take it out to Chicago Bow Hunters club today. I had to use my “Webster” bow stringer. Too long for me to use the step-through method to string it up.The upper limb has some set, but for a 70+ year old longbow, it did ok. It’s a unicorn as far as I’m concerned. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

As slick Willie Clinton used to say “I feel your pain” . I saw a bow last week that I really liked . My wife said come on not another bow? I said yeah you are right don’t need I just want it . Then she said ya know Christmas is coming . A box showed up the other day in the mail about the right size . The bow is in the house and the wait begin. Good things come to those who wait .

Even the horn nocks are nicely done. Normally I don’t like them bc they always seem too big.

I shot it. Nice bow. Other than the dark color of the Osage, it looks new. Decals are perfect
