First solo elk kill. It's probably been 10 years since I shot an elk, and it's hard to find buddy's to go hunting with. I did hunt with a friend for a couple of weeks, but he flew home and I kept hunting. Lost my packer, just when it would have come in handy!

I shot this buck last night. 15 ish yards. I passed him 3 times earlier as I had my eye on a mature doe.
But he kept taunting me. Milling around in range when the doe was on hyper alert and never gave me the shot I wanted. So I shot this buck instead.
I made this bow last winter. I killed rabbits then a spring Turkey with it, so wanted to take a deer with it also.
Osage with flipped tips, backed with whitetail leg sinew then topped with snake skin and Buffalo horn tips.
50ish pounds at 27” a little over 600 grain surewood shafts and Grizzly 2 blade
Pass through and he went 70ish yards.

Saturday November 5th. 62 degrees it came together for me. Using a Brandon stahl ace 51# 60” ( 1957 kodiak replica) with gt500 125gr. Thunderheads. I was able to keep it together to harvest the biggest deer I have ever seen on the hoof. I heard him making a scrape and he came right to me. Let the arrow go at 17 yards. He didn’t make 30 yards before hitting the ground. What an experience !!!

Me and this bow have had a LOVE/hate relationship since day one. It was all me just being squirrelly, but I dug in deep and dialed in. I matched her beauty with shootability. Now the “Ol Asian Special” Big Jim Desert Bighorn is the only bow I can shoot, and I’m ok with that because she’s a killer!

I have been super blessed this year. This is deer number three.
Blackwidow recurve. 50# 62 inch PSA. Surewood shaft with Grizzly 2 blade.
This was the first deer I have killed with a Grizzly. It performed perfect. The blood trail was as good or better than other heads that I have used. This was a small deer but the arrow was sticking in the ground, complete pass through.

Lonnnggg season for me passing 12 different bucks because of having 4 yrs history with 2 giants but never could seal the deal and they were harvested with gun it stings pretty back so when this old warrior showed up it I figured I better get to filling the freezer he never grew a rack for past years also the darkest deer I ever harvested...killed him with my new Schafer silvertip and always a Simmons head on the business end! Happy holidays
