Well UPS damaged my new Bear Kodiak during shipping. I knew as soon as I seen the box that it wasn’t going to be good. Unfortunately the UPS guy handed me a stack of boxes and the bow box was on the bottom so he was able to make a quick getaway before I saw the destroyed box. When I opened it and pulled it out of the box it was in two pieces like someone had stomped on the box. The riser is snapped right at the shelf and the fiberglass on the front of the grip is splintered. I thought the point of the “I-Beam” was to make the bow stronger but apparently not strong enough to survive UPS. I got a full refund from the company I ordered it from and I get to keep my new “two piece”.

What should I do with it? I’m thinking of cutting the limbs off and doing something with them, I just don’t know what yet. Maybe make a table lamp or something out of it. What would you do?

Whether or not the drive saw it, I would contact UPS and have them look at the bow and the box (I hope you kept that) to show it was in-transit damage. Give them a chance to make it right for you. That had to be run over to cause damage like that.

wow, never have seen that before.

George, its already been submitted as a claim to UPS and I got a full refund. I took a bunch of pictures and kept all the packing materials and box. It would be nice if Bear would actually protect the bow inside the box and not just toss it in there in a plastic bag.

What would I do with it. Remove the Bear coin and make an arrowhead shaped belt buckle and insert the Bear coin. I would cut the limb tips off, sand a finish and make key chains out of them. Toss what is left.

No amount of packing would have saved that bow.

Look good on a belt buckle like this.

Strange how the glass broke so cleanly. I'd expect it to look more stringy. Almost looks like it was cut with a saw.

Anyway, glad you at least got a refund.

Had an order of Atsko Sport wash come in. As I took the box from the delivery agent from UPS, I noted one of the top flaps(but delivered bottom side up to my hands)was partly open. Before he could run off I called him and stated, "This box is partially open. I need you to stay here if anything inside is damaged." He looked around like he wanted to go, but I zipped the box open with my EDC, and everything was okay.

This was the fourth time I have been "creatively" handed packaging. Double check all your deliveries, especially bows or arrows. Tell them you need them to witness delivery condition of contents. I believe they are supposed to do so when requested. If damaged, start your claim process on the SPOT.

It’s actually really stringy and jagged where it broke. I can’t even get it close to going back together. It was definitely bent because the wood fibers on one side are flared out where it broke on the backside.

Awesome, then basically it's up to you what to do with the shards. Maybe glue it together and hang her up.

I received a package from ups a few days ago that contained a leafy suit and a pack of arrow nocks. The box was damaged on one end pretty bad. I thought when I saw the box I’m glad it contained a leafy suit and not a dozen woodies.

I’d use the medallion area as a belt buckle then fashion the limbs into a crossbow.

Cut the limbs off about 6” from the tips and mount them to a board and make a bow rack. Put the coin in the middle of the back board.

Could someone rework the limbs for a takedown bow?

From: shamus275 Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

I have a Bear Mini Mag riser that it looks like the limbs width wise and thickness wise would fit but I think they’ll be too short to work. I like the belt buckel and bow rack idea.

I got a Saint Charles back quiver in last year. I didn’t know they made them in two peace ??. But it was a Easy repair. The whole back was snapped in half ??

From: Live2Hunt

I sure would make them pay for it. was this a new bow or a used? I don't think stepping on it could break it there, were there tire tracks on the box?

From: MStyles
Date: 22-Sep-22

The good news is UPS made good on your claim. Sorry about the bow.

From: shamus275 Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 22-Sep-22

It was a new bow and I got a full refund on it. No tire tracks on the box…maybe something ridiculously heavy was dropped on it? I don’t know but every time I order a 1-piece Bear Bow the box is always destroyed in the dead center of the box. The last Kodiak I ordered had the same marks, rips on the box but that bow survived.

Jon, thats a work of art- nice

If the mini mag and those limbs won't work, maybe find a longer riser. Something like this...

From: N Y Yankee
Date: 23-Sep-22

Im being told that UPS and FEDEX both have it out for anything that resembles a weapon, even black powder guns. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't jump on it at one of the distribution centers.

From: Backcountry
Date: 23-Sep-22

Oldbowyer could fix that. He’s had worse challenges dealing with Crookedstix’s experiments.

From: selstickbow
Date: 23-Sep-22

maybe someone can creatively fashion a splice affair, similar to the 2-piece takedown bows? some of the latest 2-piece takedown bows have staggered ends sandwiched together. It could be glued or screwed or both. nothing lost trying it. 1911 grips as a fall-back option.

From: Chairman
Date: 23-Sep-22

Then you have the other side, I had a bow shipped to me with both tips poking out of the box. It was boxed up that way and it came to me perfectly fine.

From: selstickbow
Date: 23-Sep-22

I was thinking someone might install a bow bolts so it could be a 2-piece TD bow.

From: shamus275 Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 23-Sep-22

I was hoping a two piece bow bolt could be done it’s broke down the center of the shelf and it’s shredded fibers at the break point.

I went to a great deal of trouble building one of Nemah’s shipping boxes to send a five-dollar garage sale bow out to longcruise in Denver, and apparently it showed up looking exactly like that.

Glad you had such an easy time with the claim. I think manufacturers are willing to take the risk because they have a slick way of settling up with the shipping companies, and it’s cheaper than packing one up like Fort Knox. Seems wasteful as heck, but it’s probably a more efficient business practice…

Ya might want to send a picture To bear archery and explain to them What happened to a new bow
