Got one on Saturday and one Sunday of WI bow season opener. Both were about an 8yd shot while they were feeding on white oak acorns. 2 different stands.

41 lb Blacktail Snakebit with tapered cedar shafts and Magnus heads.

Well done Sir! congrats on the fresh venison. I'm sure that you have many uses for the meat. I just finished off some venison poppers a little while ago. Glad to see low poundage kills. nice bow too. Sounded like an awesome time in the stands.

Craig, they look unusually skinny (joke). How far did each one go? From the looks of your clothes, you must have had some pretty mild mornings to hunt. Share a little with us.

Canepole,

They both went about 60 yds. I had the string tracker on just in case because it was in the mid 80's and very humid. I shot both in the afternoon but took the one pic in the morning. I thankfully have a large chest freezer with an added thermostat set to 38 deg so I can just drop them in with a hoist after I gut them and go have a beer:)

Congrats from a fellow Wisconsin bowhunter. On a year without acorns those soybeans would be it. But acorns trump all on a good mast year.

very nice. 40 lbs may not kill a deer but 41 will. Way to go

Congrats x 2!How many deer can you take in WI?

Babysaph, interesting observation on the bow weight. There may be those that feel a "heavy bow" would have killed em deader...

Bernie, You get 6 free antlerless tags in the county I hunt with 5,000 more still available in the county. We usually shoot 8-10 deer per year on 120 acres.

I know it was a close shot but the old 41 pounder had enough to drive a fat cedar arrow through from the top out the bottom.
