Would love to see pics of your Mahantango Red Tail longbows. The more pics, info and experience shooting them the better! Thanks in advance. I have one coming shortly. Will update this thread when it comes.

I have one with an osage and cocobolo, I think riser. Red elm lams. Very, very well made. This is a really fun bow to shoot. Mine is a little light for me or I would shoot it more. Went to take the pictures and couldn't help shooting a few arrows. The arrows are 65-70 spine but seemed to fly well. Included the group at 20 yards and the one arrow pluck. :)

You are really going to enjoy shooting that Redtail once you get it, i sure do! I have 4 of Jim’s Redtails and own several other ASL’s from other bowyers and will say…Jim build a very nice shooting and looking bow and a great guy to do business with! Since i live in Pa i get to visit Jim, great man and has a wounderful family! Also as a part time bowyer his is close to the top in Hill style bows!!!

All my bows have 15 strand B50 string and i only shoot wood arrows. With this setup you get a very quite shooting bow shooting split finger. I get a lot of folks telling me they can’t believe how quite these bows are w/o silencers. Also B50 string just feels so much better in the hand on the loose then FF strings. I shot both and B50 is the clear winner for me. I also find that his bows like a brace height of 6 1/8 to 6 1/4. Hope this helps you out alittle. As soon as Jim gets the woods i want he will be building me a 5th one but string follow!!!

Shootalot, nice looking Redtail and nice shooting!

I also forgot, my 4 Redtails weight range is 50,54,and 2 at 55#s @ 28” while my draw is around 27 and shoot 60/65 cedars with 190 point. My target arrows are 600 grains and my hunting arrows are 660 grains. I get great arrow flight and they hit the targets hard!

From: strigif0rm3s
Date: 24-Aug-22

mine i have coming is 69" 43@28. Standard Backset Red Tail. Maybe if i love this one i'll get another...and another...then try his string follow. hahah.

I've been getting my bows a bit lighter as of late and really enjoy shooting the lighter weights. They are good for shooting all day, 3d shoots, and hunting. Anyway, mine is ALL YEW with clear glass and a greenish colored piece of Lignum Vitae for the Riser. I think it'll be a looker.

After a few shots we started stacking them in there. This is my only asl and have very little experince with them . I love it. I can tell it wants a lighter spine arrow and i'm gonna have to get used to the dished grip. Stunning bow.

Nalajr, best would be to call for price as woods and finish prices vary. I will say the one Classic Jim had build me that i got in Jan. had 5 lambs of yew, myrtle handle and handrubbed finish was $700ish.
