Is there a cost to get in? Or is the $15 just for participating in the shoot

From: Larry Burford

I hope I can make it. It will be the first shoot I have been to in nearly 20 years.

There is no cost to get in and there is very nice (but limited) free camping. It is in a very beautiful location and you would enjoy it.

Larry... I do hope that you make it!

Not sure, but if I am reading the above flyer correctly, metal risers are not ok for competition. Am I correct?

What restrictions are there for arrows? Is it wood only?

From: BowAholic

If you shot in the Longbow or Selfbow Championship, you must use wood arrows. The bow restrictions were taken from the Texas Longbow Championship shoot I think. If you look at page 2 and the "Acceptable Longbow Guidelines", it pretty much spells it out. I can ask if you want though. I was concerned about my Mesa, but it fits the guidelines easily, as does my 7 Lakes. After the Championship round there will be all kinds of bows and arrows being used for the other rounds I'm sure. It's all about enjoying yourself anyway. :)

Bowaholic,, thanks for posting and following up.

You know me, hard to get out from under this rock.

If y’all happen to have a metal riser that fits the dimensions, bring it on.

Actually I have three aluminum bows that would but kinda fraid to loose an arrow from them.

Like the bobcat said,, if ya just want to come visit please do so. No charge if your not shooting,, and we are pretty entertaining just to watch,,

And no matter what trad bow you shoot, after the competition, usually by two o’clock or so on Saturday,, all trad equipment is welcome.

Then all day Sunday,, all trad equipment can participate in the blanket shoot.

We love seeing new friends,,

Y’all come join us,, we will have a good time.

Larry, I sure hope you and the family can make it,, it has been way too long since we have seen you.

I’ve really enjoyed trading messages lately. Anxious to see you and Carol and see Daniel shoot.

To see a young fellow shooting Hill style, bow and form,, something to look forward to.

Last year was a great shoot... great to see and shoot with friends like JR and Cahl shooting at the pig in the heavy brush... it was awesome

I see registration ends at 8:30. I will need to leave home about 5am or before to make it up there. Maybe we can make it. We are about an arrow shot or two from Louisiana.

Larry, what time do you think you will get there...we can pre-register you and hold your cards... :)

My sons, friend, and I gonna see if we can make it. Some of their R/D bows may not qualify

Black spot,, a lot of rd bows comply with the current guidelines.

If the string doesn’t touch the limb except at the nock and the don’t actually have a recurve type riser/handle, they should be fine.

As mentioned the flyer has simple measurements that should explain all.

And if not you’re more than welcome to come shoot Saturday afternoon and Sunday for the blanket shoot and fun rounds.

You aren’t required to bring something to put on the blanket,, just means you don’t get anything off,,,

We plan on having a good time and love to meet new friends.

The weather should be great for the shoot. It will be good to see everyone just before hunting season begins.

There are bows being made, and the weather is super nice. There are still a few camping spaces available. Come spend the weekend or just come shoot with us Saturday.

Even master bowyer Dave Albright of Rainy Creek Bow Works is hooked on building and hunting with osage selfbows!

I wish I would have felt like going. Please post more pictures when you can Bob.

Will do Larry. The weather was great and we had a good crowd this morning. I think there were as many selfbow shooters as there were longbow shooters. You were missed...see you at the March shoot.
