Greetings All,

I have a question and am looking to your experiences to help me.

If you build two bows, same stack except one uses .040 back and belly bear Paw glass and the other uses .050 back and belly Bear Paw glass. How much weight would you expect to gain?

I do know from my experiences with Gordon's I could expect close to a 20# gain. With Gordon's, I could get 1# per.001 glass thickness...

Any insight would be a great help.

Thanks in advance, Jason

Total stack the same or just the core stack?

Core stack the same. Only difference is the glass.

Hope you're doing good, Mike!

Straight longbow, D/R, or recurve? That matters.

But if you keep the wood cores the same and add .020" in additional glass it's going to be 20lbs. and possibly more.

Ok, so core lams are the same thickness? The one with. 050 glass is a total of .020 thicker in the total stack?

Hi Frank,

It's a D/R longbow...

The only difference is the brand of glass. I don't know the answer.

I'm still going with 20lbs. or there about.

I started using Bear Paw glass several years ago when Ron LaClair started using it.

So it sounds like there is minimal performance difference between the two brands, right?

Yes that is my experience. In fact I haven't been able to detect any performance difference at all.

Thanks Guys!

I'm laying up a bow today and will let you know how it goes...

Frank, one thing I did see was I had to increase the cores on my bows with the BP compared to the Gordon's glass. Did you find this as well?

Jason...no I didn't. But that might be due to the design of the bow as much as anything.

Jason, when we talked I thought you meant same total stack.

Extra .020 in total will for sure get a lot more weight!!

I'm guessing 1 lb per thousandth,

Hi Kenny,

Sorry. In my head, I thought I was explaining it clear... Ask my missus, I think that a lot...LOL.

Talk soon, Jason

It could have easily been me, my missus says I never listen...LOL
