I finally figured it out. I was trying to do it at 10 yards. Read an article about doing it at 30. Then I could actually see my arrows were stiff

Way to go!! Always nice to have that happen.

Anything from 15-30 will easily show the attitude the arrow is flying in. ie: nock right or left.

reddogge is right. And I wouldn't start at 30 until I saw the flight at 15.

Yea 30 gives them more time to straighten up after going through the window before they get to the trashcan :>))

so something good came out of the window deal?

My all time favorite bare shaft tuning method is in a big open field.

Pick a target as far away as you can shoot and let 'em go.

Any question related to suitability of the shaft to your bow will disappear in about 3 shots.

Good point FDP. I have been reading some of the youtube videos from a guy named Kaminski. He won a couple of silver medals in the Olympics. He seemed to know what he was talking about and it worked for me. I did not make adjustments until 30 yards to prevent making the wrong adjustment before the arrow had time to show me weak or heavy. It really worked but as George says. Your mileage may vary.I can shoot bare shafts now right in the bullseye. I may shoot my next 3D with my buddies with a bareshaft just to show off.

It is nice when they shoot like that! Do you have a lot of front weight on them? For wood shafts I shoot them closer. For carbons much farther. Those won't break if they go too far sideways. I once had some AD tapered carbon shafts that flew perfect without feathers out as far as I could shoot. I could even do it with 3 blade heads. I really liked those arrows. Then quality got bad. Haven't tried them for yrs. Don't know if they improved.

I did put a 100 grain insert in and can still use my 125 grain Field points and broadheads.
