I look forward to this shoot as much as ETAR and maybe more in some respects.

If ETAR can be likened to a big Christmas party, this shoot is like Thanksgiving with close friends and family.

SHADE MOUNTAIN BOWMEN

Is there going to be a trade blanket time/day for people to sell or trade goods?

From: kaw369
Date: 07-Sep-22

Can anyone tell me just how Shade Mt. got its name. I always get asked if I have anything to do with Shade Mt. since my last name is Shade. It is that or the winery. LOL Thanks in advance! Just asking? Curious...

From: jsweka
Date: 07-Sep-22

“All shots must be ATTEMPTED......if the judge and present participants agree that the shot was a "SAFE MISS" shooter will be DQed.”

That’s the “Sweka” rule that was put in place after I intentionally dinked a shot a couple years ago.

Monkeyball was ahead of me in the points department and I knew the only way I could beat him was if he lost or broke his arrow. So on a particularly frightening shot, I pulled the string back about six inches and shot the arrow about three feet hoping I would still have an intact arrow and Monkeyball would have a wreck. I still lost.

From: Yewbender
Date: 07-Sep-22

Oh yes, the “SWEKA RULE” thanks to our good ole pal Sweka. I almost forgot. He sure messed things up for use because he wasn’t good enough to flub a shot!

From: Jgetz
Date: 08-Sep-22

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick!8 the clock is ticking boys, the fun hour is almost upon us! Was there yesterday to drop some things off and the club and grounds just look beautiful. Do not let a little bit of rain scare you guys, it's been so dry the ground just drank it up like a sponge! Lol. Things are ready to rock at the club so come have fun!

Chicken is looking good. Had a fine shoot yesterday; shot with Rich, Maggie and a fine gentleman who's name escapes me. They were from the Harrisburg area. Super people. Linked up with Carol Covington and John Merrick, shot with these fine two people and had a helluva grand time. Was going to return this afternoon after spending time at the Ford FE race and reunion with my grandson Sal. However, 5:30 this morning Sal ended up taking me to the ER at Shamokin. Determined I have a kidney stone, but let's not get sick on the weekend. No urologist on call, no beds at Danville, Load me up with pain/nausea medicine and hope to get me in Monday and get rid of the little bugger. Anyway, Shade was awesome and hats off to everyone concerned. Gary, we will get to shoot together somewhere down the road. Thanks for listening. Shick

From: Yewbender
Date: 10-Sep-22

Shick - Bummer I missed you at the shoot and sorry to hear about the kidney stone. That sucks! I had them once and don’t want to go through that ever again.

Awesome time as always at Shade!!!!!

From: Red Beastmaster
Date: 10-Sep-22

Well I finally made it to Shade!

All I can say is I was really missing out. This was one of the most well run and organized shoots I've ever been to. Lots of helpers doing their thing and the kitchen staff cooked up very good food at bargain prices.

The courses were beautiful and the targets were all in like new condition. The trails through the towering trees were well marked and easy to walk. We all remarked how cool the setting was.

We were fortunate to get several of our gang from 3 hours away to all camp together. The music and campfire was just the icing on a wonderful weekend! Great time!

Oh yeah, I also got to meet the infamous Monkeyball! You know, I thought he would be bigger. :)

Big thanks to everyone who helped make a memorable weekend!

I've been doing the shoot since 2008 and I never saw it that crowded on a thursday? I saw the mighty red Beastmaster come in while I was setting up and hanging up sweatshirts from my wheelchair? And got to welcome him! Really looked like the guys were having a good time. There wasn't much I could do and I had a couple of appointments for a prosthetic. Really shot me in the tail? Glad everything worked out as well as it did glad everybody had a good time and I'm really glad the Lord provided us with such awesome weather! Thanks to everyone!

From: Yewbender

Lol, we saw Clint from atop the hill play’n in the water!!!

Well another awesome Shade Mt. Shoot in the books with a count of 153 shooters!!! A huge thanks to the crew for putting on a great shoot and thanks to all who attended and had a great time! It was great seeing all the old friends and making new one. The 3D course/novalties, food, and entertainment were great. These guys sure know how to make some tasty chicken on the pit along with some ribs. I had a blast of a time, did a lil shooting, helping out with the club, and a whole lot of B.S.ing. It was a sad day on Sunday as the shoot ended and having to wait another year for this shoot.

Just so yaw’ll know there is more camping spots down by the creek. If you haven’t made the shoot you got to get here, you will enjoy it for sure!!! BTW next year i hope we can hit over 170 shooter! Oh and don’t tell the guys i said that because they might kick me out of the club!
