I've been looking for a set of limbs for my Toelke Lynx for a long time now, I decided to go all out with the classifieds on several different archery forms I put a want add for the limbs on the Traditional archery society and got several responses within an hour or 2, I checked in a few of them and all sorts of red flags popped up but one of them seemed legit, and when I got into the transaction his name changed from a normal name to this unusual Arabic name, well I had already sent the 200 bucks and he has disappeared its been a week. So I'm sure I'm screwed,,

What form of payment did you use, did you talk to the person prior to the transaction?
I hate when that happens.

It's best to search handles and see if they are really traditional archers. Many here go back well over a decade, it's called a track record.

Yes, if you used "goods and services." Paypal will refund your money.

Using PayPal “goods and services” you can get your money back but it’s not easy like people think. I was scammed early last year buying a 59 kodiak and received a tracking number just like any other transaction I’ve done. What was delivered was a cabinet knob, no joke. I contacted PayPal, sent them every conversation between myself and the scammer along with all the pictures I later found out were from an ad on eBay and disputed this claim for nearly 2 months. Finally PayPal said I had to ship the received product (cabinet knob) back to the provided address, not the one it shipped from. The new address was in Nairobi, Kenya and I would receive my refund upon acknowledgment of receipt of the package which they of course never did. After I paid for the international shipping, the package was delivered and I had to again go back and forth with them until they accepted the tracking info I provided as proof of delivery. Three months later, countless emails and jumping through hoops I finally received my refund. One other thing, they offered me a settlement about halfway through but my pride was all or nothing, I didn’t want to willingly give anything to this scammer. My advice is number 1, be careful, number 2, keep all conversations until both parties are satisfied whether it’s you buying or selling and number 3, be firm in your pursuit of your refund, don’t give these scumbags a dime if you don’t have to

One simple rule and it has always worked for me when selling something. If you won't call me and talk with me like a man, I will ignore your texts. If you have something for sale and I call and you don't answer with a human voice, I never call back. I don't need stuff that bad.

I'm not scared. If I need a set of limbs for my bow I'm going to call Lancaster...or buy face to face or from somebody I know.

If it has only been a week, your payment had to get there & he had to get the limbs mailed & the PO needs a few days too. Maybe all is not lost. I think it took about 2 weeks for me to get a set of limbs. Ken

I have yet to be burned, but some have certainly tried and I've come close!
I put up a mountain bike on FB marketplace, (my daughter's account because I don't have FB). Within a couple hours at least 3 different (?) scam attempts were made.
I also take great pains to talk to the person as Longshot suggested above.
The most insane attempt by a scammer was a few years ago on an airgun forum. Guy called late at night to buy an air rifle from me. Gave me a name and a bit of life history regarding owning a trucking company. Then, after saying he wanted to buy my rifle ($500) he said he'd have to wait about a week to pay me. Red flags-owns a trucking company and $500 difficult to come up with?)
I googled the name, town, and trucking company. Turns out I pulled up an obituary from the mid-60's. I suggested the fellow RIP and stopped communicating. I also reported his handle to the moderator of the forum.

The USPS is earning their nickname of Snailmail. I ordered some parts from Midwayusa.com. Any other purchase from them was delivered within three days. This one has taken over a week and is supposedly out for delivery today.
Other items I have ordered have been routed all over the country even after getting to our central hub in Kansas City. I am sure that the ability to read is not a requirement to work there.

One thing about the United States. There are numerous companies ou there that you can use to ship your products You aren't required to use the "government" sponsored parcel carrier.
You can also start your own company since we live in a pretty entrepreneurial centric society.

OP put out a Wanted Ad for these particular limbs, so scammers contact him saying they just happen to have what he is looking for. What Luck, right? Yeah, there are no shortage of D Bags in this world.

So you have tracking? If you don’t get it about immediately start the claim at pay pal. don’t wait two months. Time is actually limited to do this. I think 90 days
