Any bowyers out there willing to build a couple sets of #3?

I’d like to have some with black wedges to match the phenolic risers.

Try user name fn, frank novak. He sometimes advertises limbs he makes for the bear takedown.

Hmmmm. The limbs that Bear is making today have black wedges. Actionwood maple, not phenolic, but still black.

My Bear limbs are black back & belly, black butts, with black & white tips. They look quite nice with the riser. >>>>------> Ken

Last few sets i have ordered have been a very light grey. No where near black and imo didn’t look well at all with my risers.

These are 2022 limbs, definitely not black wedges

The limbs I have for my camo mag riser will not fit the wooden riser. The butts are too long. I showed Neal Brice and he said they could grind them down and they were working on the problem.

The darkness can very on the newer Bear limbs.

Like some of the guys said above mine are dark.More like charcoal color.I have 2 sets of newer limbs. Not grey at all.Obviously some a lighter and more grey as shown above

You could probably request a set with dark wedges/bases.

Good luck with your Novak limbs if thats how you go! >>>------>

Check with Kirk at bigfootbows

My 2022 Bear limbs are black phenolic, and are awesome performers. Kirk from Bigfoot is roughly six months out on limbs, and when the time is near for your build, will need your riser. He told me his limbs are made for a specific riser, and not interchangeable with other risers.

Talking to Sid from Border, I'm going with a set of Border limbs for my Bear riser. I'm impressed with the looks and the performance with the Border limbs on the Bear risers. Frank builds a beautiful set of limbs, just had issues with the poundage on them. A lot higher then he stated, but dealing with Frank was easy, and his limbs are awesome performing limbs that smoke an arrow.

If the Bear TD limbs aren’t interchangeable that’s a deal killer for me. I currently have 7 risers and only 2 sets of limbs.

Hmmmm. Bear risers aren't that different from one another. The brackets are cast from the same molds. A set of limbs made to fit one will likely fit most others. The recent Bear TD problem has been the limbs, not risers.

It’s the limbs for sure. They are not interchangeable

I’ve owned at least twenty sets of Bear limbs over the years. I’ve owned limbs from all decades including four sets of 50th Anniversary. I’ve used them on A and B risers including a Type 1, several Green Stripes, early 2000s, 20-teens, and Anniversary models. I’ve used them on wood and metal and never had a problem with fit.

I guess I’m lucky because I do believe other have had problems but I never had. For those that have had trouble what was the issue or cause?

I have and have had at least ten sets of Bear limbs and one set from Frank Novak. All fit and functioned perfectly on various risers. I have a 2021 anniversary set and the wedges are basically black. I sent you a pm.

Never had a problem either on limb fit with multiple sets of limbs and multiple risers

My limbs would not seat all the way. Took it to the head man at ETAR and he said he has seen a lot of it and they are working on it. He says I can grind the limbs down to fit the wooden handle but then it will be short on the mag handle. He did say they are addressing it.

I just bought used limbs that would not seat in pocket. Took the locator screw out and they fit and shoot very well. I figured out by enlarging the locator hole in the correct direction they would fit and that was all it took. Easy fix. First time that ever happened. Grayling B mag riser and old green tip Gainesville limbs.

babysaph Is this a new bow or one that you piece together? If it's new I would send it back and have them make it right that's a lot of money to spend for the head man to say grind the limbs. Maybe Bear should bring in Frank Novak to give a class on building limbs.

No I had the Mag handle and limbs but wanted to buy a new wooden handle to use with the limbs. They wouldn't fit so I didn't buy the handle. Yea apparently they ground down a couple sets before I got there. LOL. It has to do with the different handles he told me. He did say they are working on it. Apparently they are having lots of problems. The bow shoots great however.

I have been a Bear fanatic since 1970 and have had MANY models of takedowns. I have run into the limb fit problems several times over these years, always seemed to be the locator pin position. Some limbs had the hole slightly off and had to be elongated. If you look at some of the China takedowns, they elongate their limb alignment holes vertically to allow for slight differences. That being said, I did give up on Bear takedowns about 15 years ago due to quality issues. I have just recently purchased one of the new A Mag risers but I am having limbs made by Frank Novak. I won't bother with Bear limbs.

The limbs I purchased recently fit my Mag riser just fine. Can’t say about wood riser, I sold mine because I wasn’t using it and I am not that nostalgic about wood riser bows. I will say the limbs have Impressed me. Being a lighter weight than my others and being #3’s I wasn’t expecting that much performance from wood and glass limbs. Surprise, even at 30 yards my correction for distance is small. That’s with hunting weight arrows.
