I have become enamored by the Black Hunter bows, especially the hybrid or longbow. I cannot believe that it's possible to find a grip that really feels good, a smooth draw and more than decent performance in a $100 bow. I started looking at them when I needed to buy lower weight limbs for my rehab. I tried one and was amazed at what I saw at a cost less than any limbs avaialble.

I have the original gray/black model but wanted something different. I don't care too much for the green, red or blue ones that are available. I thought about stripping and refinishing the bow but then saw that different colors are available. One that caught my eye is designated as orange but is more of a warm color.

I bought it and added Rick Barbee copperhead Limbstations and I'm very pleased with the results. I know some will say it's like putting lipstick on a pig and others will rail about buying anything from China but I seriously doubt that the total amount of all Black Hunter bows sold represents more than one leaf on a tree compared to everything else that comes from there. And I donate much more than the 11% Pittman-Robertson tax to relevant agencies and programs throughout the year so I don't care to hear it.

The Black Hunters will never replace my Bear Takedowns as my favorite bow but for less than $100 this bow will do everything I need and more.

I had one and it was a nice bow. I almost bought the version Big Jim sells recently.

We know folks around here who are struggling to keep their bills paid, food on the table, and gas to go to work. Thank heavens for these bows that anyone can just about afford. If a person can afford $1000.00 and $300.00 hunting chairs, I suspect they have no clue about how some folks have to manage a budget either. I like them too Phil.

Looks great Phil. Like you, I think the grip is terrific the way it fits my hand. Lance

Exactly Phil. It’s really not rocket science. Glass and wood. All else is cosmetics.

What strings you guys shooting off of them ?

From: Phil Magistro

I've bought strings, especially from Rick Barbee, in the past but I've also made my own for decades. I still have some Rhino and BCY-X that I like. The green string on the pictured bow is Rhino.

You did a great job with those Copper head skins Phil. Looks amazing! Your right you can’t beat that price. And they shoot well too. Good luck with the new bow Phil. Shoot straight and keep them sharp! :)

Phil, That's the best looking black hunter I have seen!

For anyone needing a 60" bow, i think youd be hard pressed to find better.

Phil, No apologies necessary on how or why you spend your money. That is a nice looking bow and as you can attest, above average performance compared to the price. If I was just starting out or wanted a second bow, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. I seen the green colored ones at Big Jim's tent, that would've been my choice.

Great looking handle, Phi! Is that one still the single pin?

Only problem for me is all my may Blac Hunters are the original where the limbs are top and bottom specific so I’m limited to handle choices.

R those limbsations easy to apply?

From: Longcruise

The limitations look great. I have a set of the American flag limbsations and they would look good on my sage limbs.

Question, did you cut around the bezels before or after? Or what?

I've had several people message me for a link so I figured I'd post it here.

First some thoughts. These risers have a single pin but are designed for the newer square butt limbs. There are several color options and it seems to me that the red and blue are done differently than the ones I see on Amazon.

It is good to mention the color you want in the message field. Shortly after I ordered my bow I noticed that the default color is blue and you have to ask for other colors. And finally, returns are not a viable option because of the shipping cost to China. How they can send it to the US for $4.95 amazes me. As mentioned a lot, buying direct from China has risks. The limbs may arrive with damage. The draw weight may be something different than marked. I ordered 40# and the bow scaled at 38.6# Not enough to bother me but I know some that would expect 40#. In any of these cases the best you can hope for is a partial refund unless you want to send the bow back and take a chance the next one will be better.

There are two options to consider. If you have newer limbs the riser only is available. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256803281009031.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.2e10475cCs5cUB&algo_pvid=accb378e-729f-43b9-95a4-0cc6c5361a71&algo_exp_id=accb378e-729f-43b9-95a4-0cc6c5361a71-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000025918798385%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21USD%21%2152.58%21%21%21%21%21%40210318b916592916913741437e7097%2112000025918798385%21sea

Longcruise, I put the limbstations on, trimmed the sides and cut a hole for the bolt. No other trimming.

I do plan to spray the limbstation with a clear matte finish.

Phil, I know they wouldn’t look right but will the original limbs fit correctly on this handle?

From: Phil Magistro
Date: 31-Jul-22

They will Kelly. I put a pair of originals on a newer riser and the pin and bolt align and they shoot just fine.

I bought a Black Hunter Stealth last year from Hitman Archery and love it, it shoots just as good as my customs or as good as I shoot, and with the low cost I have been looking for another.

The ones that have the LB limbs do you find they shoot as good, fast as the recurve limbs.

Great looking bow Phil good for you.
