It’s hard to do in the heat but it time to be thinking about fall days spent in the woods.

Since I been hunting on the ground I have been trying to figure out how to stay better concealed.

My whole motivation for bowhunting is to get close to the deer and as a trad guy it means getting really close.

Been wanting to try a ghillie suit because the are known to be the best at hiding humans.

However after much research I decided the draw backs were a little more than I could handle as a southern hunter because they are also known to be bulky and hot

I have a pull over leafy hoodie but just never felt it did a great job at what it was designed to do however it is light weight and breathable

Long story short I came upon a father and son company called quick camo.

It’s not cheap but not terrible expensive either.

After reading several reviews I pulled the trigger on it and bought the entire system including gloves for $200

Got it in last night and so far think it’s a winner. By far the best leafy suit I have personally seen. It’s more like a ghillie in the the way the material breaks up the outline but it is also light and since made of mesh appears breathable.

For turkey hunters using a shotgun it would be the bomb however I feel it might be a little more challenging to wear while shooting a trad bow.

May have to trim some of it off but that’s no big deal.

Just thought I’d share in case y’all ever want to check them out.

Very nice and breaks up your outline real well. I have had the ASAT leafy suit for years and it works very well too. Good luck on your hunts this fall.

Looks great, thanks for sharing it with us and good luck with it!

I like my leafy suit up here in PA in the early part of the season when it is warm. I've worn it over shorts and a T shirt and it has worked well and even keeps the skeeters at bay.

The two pieces of advice I'd give anyone using one for the first time:

1. Practice shooting while wearing it.

2. Don't wear it to or from you spot, it will likely get tore up, put it on and take it off for walking. Mine came with a handy little stuff sack.

This is my old suit from a couple years ago. I ruined it wearing it to and from my spot and replaced it with a new one, lesson learned but it worked well on this particular evening.

It's the shoulder to head transition that really needs to be broken up. Once you get that figured out.... getting to full draw on a critter that's very close is the next obstacle. Good luck. I use a homemade ghillie but it's usually too warm in the early season.

The best way to break up the head to shoulder transition in my experience is with a veil.

That looks like it would do the trick.

“The best way to break up the head to shoulder transition in my experience is with a veil”

actually looked at this option a lot and think it would work awesome as well and probably better in some aspects. If they hadn’t been out of stock I would have ordered a kit to build a ghillie version of a veil.

I may at some point still make a ghillie boonie hat.

You can not tell in pic but the way the face mask comes down on the quick Camo hat/suit it really breaks up the head and shoulder outline.

As mentioned only issues might be with anchoring a trad bow with it on. I got to get out and test that soon.

They other cool thing for me with the quick Camo suit is I don’t have to worry about what color and style of cloths I have under it. I could wear my Khaki shorts and T-shirt in and just throw this on when I am ready to hunt.

Only time in the field will Verify its functionally use.

Supernaut had a pair of excellent tips.

That base color looks awful dark (black)...

Here is my all time favorite camo, don’t go in the woods without it.

The first step is to admit you have a problem. I can't help myself! :)

OH I've admitted it,lol The black and white pic really shows how well asat blends in from the animals point of view. The bucket hat I won from Dan AKA boxcall, it was meant to be.

LBshooter,

Anytime I see someone post a camo pic I can't resist filtering it to black and white and comparing the two.

Like a trout rising to a fly, lol. I've tried to stop but... just... cannot!

You can get real close to a deer without a leafy suit. Have done so every year. Just have a good backdrop and some pattern to break up your outline like asat or Asbell wool. Being seen drawing back a bow is going to bust you likely no matter what you wear.

Old school tree bark works good if you have a big enough tree to blend in with. Lol.

I too wear a cheap leafy coat sometimes. Works well but no pics

I think breaking up the head/shoulder outline is key especially if you are hunting stationary.

cut it out,

Thanks for saving me the hassle of feeding the beast! :)

Agreed on classic tree bark: deadly effective in mature hardwoods.
