It's never too early to talk about Fall.
What's your perfect WT deers set up? Bow - model, poundage, length, weight Arrow - broadhead - Specialty gear?
I'll take a go:
Bow - Saluki Ibex, 60" 45#... it's short, smooth, quick... and silly quiet. 45# lets me really take my time. Arrow - give me my 4 fletch GT skinnies Broadhead - Three blade 175 VPA's... they just answer the mail for me over and over Specialty Gear - I'm a big guy... and seem to do better while wearing my Ghillie Suit.

Your going to have folks fired up lol, but I also like lever guns but my favorites are my blackpowder percussions.
To the original question
I plan to hunt with my 59 kodiak this year I have some spruce shafts tip with a bear razor head. Bows 43lbs at so at my draw. Arrows weigh 500grs , B-55 string. the combo is shooting 165fps through chronograph.
confident it will do the job if I do mine. 20 yards would be my max but I’d hope for 15 or less.
I am also a big guy and it’s been hard to find places to hide from the deer lol
Was thinking about trying a chillier suit this year but ordered a leafy suit from easy camo to try.

For whitetail I usually have a batting order of which bow leads off. Then when that bow kills it’s deer. The on deck bow is up next. I’ll have 4
Bows in order. This year it’s looking like
1. SanMarco Eagle
2. One of my Self bows or Either the StCharles Thunderbird again or N.M. Baraga
3. Great Northern Classic
4. ‘59 or ‘60 Kodiak
Quiver, RiverWolf or Safarituff
Arrows from cedar and Doug fir, to Aluminum FMJ and Carbon depending on spine and bow
BHs , old cheap 2 blades up to Iron Will 250s
Clothes synthetic to wool and fur

Over the last few years I've switched from my recurves to longbows. I've got 3 different bows set up to use. (1) my Yellowstone Half Breed T/D, 58" 44lb, (2) a Yellowstone Hunter that I got from "BigB" here on LW, 60" 46lb, and (3) is my Wengard Chamois 58" 48lb. I shoot mostly aluminum arrows and some tapered cedars with Eclipse, Ace, and Magnus 2 blade heads. Hunt from tree stands, ladder stands, and also hunt from natural ground blind set-ups. I hunt the local white-tail population here in Ohio and also have a trip planned to deer hunt in South Dakota in Oct.

Perfect ? I don't know about perfect, but my favorite is my 1984 factory camo Bear Kodiak Takedown (60#@28") with cedar arrows and a Bear Razorhead. And my Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine that was made in 1918. I haven't hunted with a gun in a very long time, but you can't get much more traditional than these two.

Quite contented with either of my sage clones. 40 lb@28, 40 at my draw, GT Traditional 600 shafts dressed in neon circus yellow and a very naughty pink feather arrangement in 3 fletch 5 inch parabolic. The shafts are front loaded with scalpel sharp Tusker 125 grain Spirit screw ins as well as 100 grain brass inserts. Either in the tree with all the other nuts, or sitting on a comfy fold up stool dressed in my finest ghillie ready to read the drag deer story hour to all the chipmunks.??

Well all my bows are play for deer hunting. I like bringing out different bow and trying to kill with them. My Barta bow, 50@28 with carbon express and a woodsman head. Also have Eskimos in the quiver. Also have my Ledgend styk, 50@28 and it's a60 " bow, lites and quick, cedars with a woodsman or Eskimo. Then I have my bear khunter and griz. 60",50@28 and 56" 45@28, again either Carbo or cedars.then there's the predator, 62" 55@28 and the same arrows wood or carbon with woodsman and Eskimos. The nit before a hunt I'll choose a bow and take a few shots and then out I'll go, fun to use all my bows. Next year I'll be using a Henry 45/70 for deer during gun season.

It's too early to lay down specifics, but it'll be something like this osage bow, 60-65 lbs, 64-66" long, and hickory arrows... it always is. I've actually made bows during the season and killed deer with them and i have several in the works at any given time, so it's early yet and ya never know.
If it comes to gun season and I still have a tag available that doesn't need saved until the late bow/flintlock season, this 1898 Winchester 38-55 wants to make meat too so... we'll see. Not the perfect deer rifle imo, but certainly capable, and the old girl still deserves to hunt.

I switch bows more than I should but I'll have an older recurve 45 to 50lbs with the perfect arrows . When a local archer passed away 2 years back his family had his gear auctioned off at a local archery club. I picked up 11 of his old 2019 arrows and I plan to use one to kill a buck each year until they're gone in his memory. This one was for Lou last year.

I'm changing up this year, I bought a Yellowstone Old Timer that I've been shooting good this summer and I've switched to wood arrows for it. So far the biggest challenge hasn't been changing bow styles it's the wood arrows that are the challenge. Finding wood arrows that are consistent is much tougher than carbon or aluminum arrows. Haven't chosen a broadhead yet as I'm still working on the right shaft-tip weight combination. But I'll have it figure out by October.

I'm switching things up this year. Going out with a Howatt Hunter pulling a little over 50#s. Still tuning some arrows but certainly y something aluminum. 2 blade heads anything over 175gn depending on what tunes well. Will shoot with a bolt in bow quiver, still haven't found one that will work well (open to suggestions). So far I'm shooting this bow very well, it throws heavy arrows with authority and much quieter than my other setup. I'm super impressed with this older model and can't wait to get everything sorted out. I have quite a few arrows to put feathers on but thinking the 2119s will match very well with it. Shooting 2413s and 2314s with it now with 200gn and 225gn points for right at 600gn total arrow weight. I have more 2413s to fletch so if 2119s don't work I know I can certainly get enough of those to fly straight.
