Hi Folks, Keep it in the front of Your minds when shooting and CHECK out Your CARBON type shafts. Hear that one of our WALLERS got lucky after a Carbon EXPLODED ON HIM. A little ice on the arm and good to go! BUT? Things could have gone side-ways in a HURRY! Pls to be CAUTIOUS! BLESSED BE!

Thanks for the caution James…glad the archers was OK.
That’s why it’s tin arrows for me…they won’t end up being part of my anatomy!

Have been shooting Graflex since the 70's, still today, never had a problem. Hope I have enough to last me out.

I saw a picture of one going through a guy's left hand before. It was here on the leather wall. That picture always shows up. JF

I shoot a lot of carbons and check them often. Shot a lot of game with them and will continue. Wood is fun and so is aluminum but carbons have never let me down.

I know a guy that had an aluminum arrow break upon release, drove down deep into his wrist. Took some fixin to get him right again. He quit archery over it.

I blew a carbon limb once at full draw. It drove a field tipped arrow through the back of my hand, and was pushing it out between my index and middle fingers. Archery can be dangerous.

Never had one blow up, but about a month ago I rubbed one between my pointer finger and thumb, and got a carbon splinter.
I don't use carbons always but I have and do, sometimes.
Made me reconsider for hunting....not sure if id want carbon fibers in meat.
Never had a problem, don't want one either.

years ago i had a GT carbon blow up about 10 feet after release. amazing and surprising. talk about a WTF moment. makes you gun (bow) shy.
i wasn't sure the cause and was fairly certain the arrow was not nicked or damaged...? anymore i flex carbons after pulling them from the target.
i was never a gold tip fan and at that time found the spine to vary too much.

The risk of carbon fibres in the meat is the other reason I will never use them. That could cause serious problems.

Carbons aren't the only arrows that blow up, I was shooting with a friend who had a woodie blow...ended up in the ER taking splinters out.

I’ve never hunted with carbons and until this year had never shot them . In the early days of carbons I heard of them splintering and ruining meat but I thought all that had been fixed and hadn’t really heard much about it lately.

Friends, brothers, and I first bought, and shot Cabela SST tapered carbon shafts decades ago. Every body shot them in my area mostly out of compounds. Never had any blow, and we used them to hunt with for years, and years. I see that it has happened, but not to any one I know. I check for nock cracks, point cracks, and well bending the shaft spin the arrow 360 degrees. I get rid of any arrow that is even remotely suspect, and I know one could still blow, and cause bad bodily damage. I have never been hurt with any manufactured bows, or arrows over the years, but have hurt my self with self bows that I have made early on while learning the craft.

Wood can do a similar thing too .Fortunately wood is easier to detect flaws and damage to shaft integrity.Carbon are scary an damage is hard to detect for me.Aparently newer manufacturing techniques in carbon reduce the catastrophic injuries.I think tin or wood or bamboo gives me a better sense of safety. Carbon arrows really aren't that big of a danger. Look how many thousands upon thousands of compound shooters shoot carbon. Flex before you shoot. JF

I never check my carbons, unless I get a robinhood. If it was up to Batman, we'd all be sitting around, afraid to breathe.
