Hey all.

I’ve only had one Bear bow and I recall mounting a quiver to it and having one of the inserts come out. Seemed like I over torqued it. I recently acquired another bear bow and would appreciate some tips on mounting the quiver and any advice on keeping it tight. Thanks

make sure you use a short screw,, i once did the samething.. insert came out and put a chip in riser

Put Teflon tape pipe sealant on the screw. As said above make sure your screw isn't to long.

Every Bear bow that I have tried to use the quiver mounts have done the same thing, and NO it is not from screws too long. Bear press- fits these bushings in and that simply will not hold firm enough for these quivers. The pressure of the rubber gaskets and/or the vibration of shooting slowly works these out, chipping wood along the way. I built a puller contraption that can pull the bushings without damaging the wood, then reinstall them the correct way with epoxy. What make of quiver are you trying to mount?

I don’t have a quiver yet. Just looking around at different options. I’m open to opinions. I’d like to think the ones from “Bear” would have the correct screw length?

You can buy shorter screws over the counter at ACE hardware.Thata where I got mine for a bear.Yes they need to be short enough for sure!!!Not too long!

You can mount other quivers on the Bear limbs as well to avoid using the inserts.

It’s not just screws too long.

Any soft material between the quiver bracket and bow will allow the inserts to pull up and meet the bracket. The soft material compresses and the inserts pull up to the bracket.

That’s just another reason I designed the Bow Wart. Available at 3-R or direct. I’ll add a pic later.

I never had an issue but heard it was caused by using too long of a screw

What Dan in MI said. Yes, because the inserts are hollow rather than closed on the end, a screw that's too long will push it out of the hole. But, putting a soft washer such as neoprene between the bushing and the mounting bracket will also give the screw room to pull the insert out of the riser.

Mount the bracket flush to the insert with nothing between the two pieces and don't use a screw that's too long and you'll never pull out the insert.

Rather than worry about pulling the inserts out by one means or another why not just send it off and have them put in correctly? That or do it yourself.

Most of the inserts I have pulled from Bear bows are just pressed in. I replace them with E-Z locs that are threaded on the outside. Epoxy them in. They are about $4 a pair & come in brass or stainless. Problem solved. As mentioned a bolt too long or if you mount them below flush the bolt has pulling force on them. Insert them about 1/32 proud. That also prevent hardware from scratching bow. >>>----> Ken

I use a slide-on or strap-on quiver with all of my Gainsville risers. I wish Bear would stop installing the quiver bushings. The last new one that I bought was ordered without the bushings. However, that was 10 years ago.

Of all the Bear bows I've owned with quiver bushings I did pull one out once. It was a takedown and I torqued the screw in and overtightened it, pulling the insert out slightly. I replaced it with a screw in model and learned to not overtighten those screws any more. I use bow quivers on every bow I have and, beyond that one occurrence, have not had any other problems.

Thanks for the information guys. My quiver should be here in a day or 2.

I haven't had a quiver bushing pull out on any of my Bear bows. But I'm careful to use the right length screw and to not over tighten them.
