Gas up in Maryland or Virginia as much as you can before you get to the "gas tax" state of Pennsylvania. :) Check gas buddy as well to find cheapest petrol. Right now it's $4.79 a gallon where I live here in Bedford County, but I'm pretty sure it will be closer $5.00 or more by the third week of June.

From: treetopper
Date: 06-Jun-22

Gas is $4.85 in Tioga County right now. Jeeez...

From: 1829
Date: 13-Jun-22

Yesindeedy! Looking forward to seeing/camping with/eating with my "usual cast of characters" that prefer STAR over ETAR!

From: Linecutter
Date: 13-Jun-22

My buddy Dave and I will be there the Sunday before the shoot. Will actually camp at the shoot this year. Usually have stayed at private campgrounds previously, but with the cost of gas and what we had to pay last year for 2 sites at a near by private camping ground, will be trying to trim the budget some this year. DANNY

From: Widow sax
Date: 14-Jun-22

Big Jim will not be at Saw only at Etar I asked him and that is what he meant when he posted he would be there. Widow

From: R.grider
Date: 14-Jun-22

Lets see, for me and my grandson, $346 in camping and shoot fees, another $300 in gas for the round trip. Can I afford it? Yes. Will I pay it ? No. I have everything i need right here at home, im boycotting exorbiant prices on anything.

From: Andy Man
Date: 14-Jun-22

yea that's rather rough in $'s

staying home too

but I have to

From: DaleHajas
Date: 14-Jun-22

Ive pm'ed ETAR Fb page to get clarification. I cant imagine.....

From: Ken E. Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member
Date: 14-Jun-22

I think there is some confusion on cost. 2 adults arriving on Wednesday and camping and shooting all weekend would cost $120 total. $20 each to camp and $40 each to shoot. Hope this helps

From: DaleHajas
Date: 14-Jun-22

Per ETAR:

"If you look how it’s set up the first price is adult the second price is youth and that price is what you pay if you arrive Wednesday and covers entire weekend."

"An adult arriving Wednesday will pay $20 for camping"

It appears Shooting fees are set up the same way

Adult- $40 to shoot Thursday to Sunday

They look much better this way to me:) Thanks ETAR GUY:)

From: David Mitchell
Date: 14-Jun-22

I don't think my old legs are strong enough to do that upside down horseback shot. LOL

From: jsweka
Date: 14-Jun-22

I’ll gladly pay $120 for my son and me for that much fun for that many days! Seems like a bargain compared to many other activities.

See ya’ll next Wednesday!

From: Andy Man
Date: 14-Jun-22

Figured it out from here in VA gas camping and shooting $250

like jsweka said worth it ,though wish the gas would be more reasonable

I would pay that if I could go for 4 days, and be happy enough

From: Jason D
Date: 15-Jun-22

Yep!

Is the lift going to run?

From: Widow sax
Date: 15-Jun-22

No the lift will not be running. Widow

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 16-Jun-22

I don’t but I know several guys that won’t go because of it. I never rode the lift at ETAR. I don’t like heights so I walked to the top and beat my buddies up and got some exercise too. I like shooting the top courses now because I usually have em all to myself

From: George D. Stout
Date: 16-Jun-22

I won't be going this year, but my buddy Scott will be there with a table setup with some old bows and other goodies. Make sure you stop and say hello to my best bud. I may get up for a day to ETAR but not even sure of that, hard to make plans with the way things are moving and maybe getting worse.

From: grizz
Date: 16-Jun-22

I’d love to come to it but for the price of gas alone, I could pick up a couple more acres. Hope you guys have a great time.

From: jsweka
Date: 16-Jun-22

There’s a lot of other shooting on pretty flat terrain to be had if you don’t want to hike the mountain.

The mountain at Sawmill is not near as steep as at Denton Hill.

From: Widow sax
Date: 16-Jun-22

I like shooting up the mountain do it every morning good exercise. At the speed you shoot up its not bad. Widow

5.09 for gas over along 15....and dandys going up 287 was also 5.09

For those of you coming from the south...id fill up in Jersey shore or Williamsport somwhere.

Also just a heads up...road construction has the exit closed to turn up 287 off of 220...if your going West, you have to go past and take the next exit and come back down 220 East.

From: jsweka
Date: 21-Jun-22

Heading out late morning tomorrow and should be there around noon.

The forecast looks ominous for tomorrow, iffy for Thursday, but awesome for Friday and Saturday.

Id love to go, talk about it every year, but havent made it yet.

We just got done laying block on 3 different jobs, and poured a floor, up there mon, and I'm tired of driving up there every day for now.

Even if I did....id probably end up down English run rd, putting trail cams out instead.

If anyone wants to take a nice long mt ride..go past sawmill and turn left at the first crossroad, turns to dirt rd, takes you down to English center, at little pine creek, hang a left takes you back out to 287.

It will give you an idea, what those of us that talk about PA bigwoods, are talking about

Have plenty of gas, and forget the cell it will be useless, and look on a map so you know where you are going...a wrong turn and you could end up, in cedar run, or, back in the barrens.

Have fun.

Just got home, 4 hour+ drive. Rained hard Wed. night, light drizzle Thur. morning. Shot

the Safari course twice and bad lands once. Left after lunch and it was 81 degrees.

Pittsburgh was 92 when I left and 91 when I got back. Starting to fill up when I left, as

much as Sawmill can " fill up ". Good time with Carl from Arizona, met up with the bunch

I shot with last year thanks Tom, Frank, Evan and Dave.

Thanks to all who stopped at my vendor tables to look, purchase something or just said hello and introduced yourself. I enjoyed myself, meeting friends new and old. I like the Sawmill location and the way it is laid out, there is plenty of room to camp and shoot. I gave the staff compliments as I felt they deserved it, especially the kitchen staff. I hope to return next year.

Not that I knew of. I was looking for old Red so he could give me a shooting lesson.

From: DaleHajas

My first impression was at the sign-in. I was kind of set back a bit. But After shooting the mountain course and Badlands, all those thoughts went away. Loved the courses, it appeared to me that every target there was a brand new Rhinehart. I cant remember seeing avshot up target. Not even on the practice ranges.

Only a few muddy spots and only had to wait once or twice at the target. The young lady atbthevsign in told me they had only a few less campers- sopts were hard to find thursday night, but there apoeared to be more folks.

A few more vendors were there including KUIU and talked to those guys for quite a while. They will be back for ETAR, theyre also planning to get to Forksville, and the Pa Elk Expo. They were offering specials on all equipment during the event. Great bunch of young folks too!

Got to see a bunch of really great friends, make a bunch more too! All in all it were another great time I got to share with my son:)
