Been working on this bow when I can't make it to the turkey spot. Made a new caul for the flipped tips, I'm liking the looks of the bends. Natural reflex/deflex out toward the tips to where I bent them. Walnut and antler tip overlays. The bottom one gave me fits until I finally ended up getting my surfaces to mate well. I'll post a few pics now and get tiller pics up soon. No finish yet, my dye job is drying as I type. Stole the idea from Weylin Olive of Swiftwood Bows. I've shot this one a couple dozen times so far and plan on some stumping and maybe a 3D course over the weekend before finish work to see if I wanna tweak anything first.

She's got a lot of knots, bumps and curves, most of which are on the bottom limb. And a big hole below the handle. Upper limb is longer by an inch and a half and pretty clean, only a couple small bumps and knots. I left some of the rough stuff in the handle section that was on the split off the log, you can kinda see it in the last pic.

There's a better pic. If I'm seeing these little pics right, this should be unbraced profile.

Very nice looking work. Knot below grip of course looks like a weak point. Will epoxy fill solve that?

Thanks guys!
Catskills, I hope knot (har har), I left a lot of meat around the hole and it barely bends in that area by design. Made for a tough tillering job with a shorter working limb. Also worked a lot of super glue into and around the hole for insurance, but it's only my 6th bow, so...

HOLE. Dumba$$ autocorrect. Here's a couple more random pics. Anyone sees anything funky or completely outta wack, let me know. So far everything looks okay to my inexperienced eyes.

That pic was @26" before I scraped away a few lbs. 60# is a little outta my comfort zone, but for now I'm gonna keep it heavy. It hasn't bothered me yet and I'm digging the speed. Pretty accurate for me too shooting a few here and there as I tweaked things.

I like the curves & the hole. I don't think the hole is any problem the wy the grain curves out around it & you left extra material. >>>----> Ken

Thank you guys! Hopefully I did a good enough job there, Ken.
That first tip pic is the bottom before reshaping it. I rounded it off some so I don't stab my foot while resting it on there.
Stain job so far.

Thanks guys! Might get some time to shoot today and sand/re-dye where the alcohol-based leather dye raised the grain on the belly. I'm very impressed with the Fiebing's Leather Dye. Nice stuff. I used the chocolate on this bow.

It looks great with all the the curves. Always a good idea to leave knotted areas just little stiffer. Jawge

Thanks, Jawge! I used a combo of advice from several of you guys here on most aspects of this bow, the stiff area around knots from you.

Nice look-in stick there Damon. I would have probably had to try for a center shot through the hole or something silly like that.
This was probably a better plan.
Would have been nice to see it at Marshall this week.

That a fine looking bow. The hole in the fade looks great. I started using old bicycle inner tubes cut up into strips as clamps for tip overlays. Much easier than spring clamps.

Damon that’s the case with many things in life. They go by fast. I know I’m guilty myself of letting to many get away from me.
I’m really glad my wife and I got to meet the people we did there and didn’t let that one get away from us.
Hopefully we meet up some day.
