Sent text for the TT bow just posted…Guy states FF only, went on to state he had to refund money to me before… I’ve never had money refunded to me ever… this is just a statement made to make someone feel comfortable about a deal.
If you do not know the individual do not send friends and family, PayPal will not in anyway shape or form refund you. You will lose the money once they scam you. Pay the extra 3% for services and goods, if the individual doesn’t wanna use that don’t do the business unless they are a friend or family member.

Just a thought….
Anyone who won’t allow YOU to pay them the 3% extra for the protections afforded to you by PayPal… clearly does not WANT you to HAVE the protections afforded to you by PayPal…

The deal is you will pay taxes on anything over 600.. Reason everyone is wanting f&f now. But i would not buy a bow from my first cousin if he lived next door without using Goods and services.. Postal MO are pretty safe..

The Postal Money Orders are mostly safe, but please take the time to verify those before sending the bow if you are selling. I worked at a bank and it was not uncommon to see fake Postal orders. Folks will counterfeit anything. BUT with Postal Money Orders just call and get it verified or take it to your local Post Office and they should be able to call it in for you.

bowkill32 I'm not sure what the $600 tax thing you're speaking of is but....
'Under the IRC Section 6050W, PayPal is required to report to the IRS the total payment volume received by US account holders whose payments exceed both of these levels in a calendar year: US$20,000 in gross payment volume from sales of goods or services in a single year.'
not an issue for most people. There was a bunch of rumors about this, but the above is from Paypal site

Starting January 1 2022 the American rescue plan did away with the 20,000 or 200 transactions reporting for PayPal payments you will receive a 1099 from PayPal for all payments up to 600 or more!

The only way the person would be responsible for tax on the transaction for a bow would be if they were doing it commercially or if they sold the bow for a profit.
The money received from the sale of any personal item (which a bow would be in most circumstances) for a loss is not taxable. But you would still receive a 1099K.
If a person is running a business selling bows and is profiting then they should be subject to taxation like any other business using any other platform.
