I have a 58” Vintage Pearson bow. It’s Brace height says 7-1/4-8”. I bought a 54” B55 dacron string and my brace height is 6-1/2. So, how many twists can safely be put in a b55 flemish string.?

Safely you can twist them until they start knotting up on themselves.

While I don't suggest that many I just twist them until the brace height is where I want it. Then if I don't like the looks of it I make a shorter string.

How many twists does it have in it now?

Is it an endless loop or flemish twist??

Bought new. None I put in yet but brace height of an inch from minimum

You can hit brace easily without coming close to over twisting it...you'll hit 7.5" with around 35 twists. Raise it slowly and shoot test arrows as you go...you might hit the sweet spot around 7".

I like 1 1/2 ro 2 twists per inch, but as noted, you can twist tighter than that. Should be able to twist it up to get the brace height you need without any problems.

What Pdiddly said. It shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks all I’ll try it.

As long as the string isn't twisted so much that it starts kinking back on itself when relaxed, then there's no harm to it, or the bow.

Might be some slight performance loss, but that's it.

If it does kink back on itself, then you need a new/shorter string.

The very twisted string doesn't hurt the bow but does impact performance somewhat, as the end result is a thicker string.

Nothing scientific but, I’ve found that 5 twists on most of my bows (54”-66”) equals about 1/4” in brace height increase.
