Well That George is good. If it was an older one from the 60’s it would of had a slanted Browning decal and tiny tips ;) Nice bow!

Don, I had one I bought new I’m guessing maybe in 1970. Ended up and let it go, but stumbled across this one years later. Picked it up, but got bit by the selfbow bug, so never shoot it. But boy it sure is pretty hanging on the wall. Maybe one of these days I’ll have to dust it off and take it out for a stroll.

Yes old bows were meant to be shot. ;)

Those vintage Browning recurves are a cut above.

Except for early 1962 models, every Browning made is dated by the first number in the serial digits. That is the year the bow was built.

The traditional models were made from 1962-1975. If a bow has a number beginning with 2, 3, 4 or 5 you can tell whether if it was made in the 60's or 70's by the presence or absence of AMO on the limb. AMO bows were made by Browning from 1968-1975.

The 1962-65 bows will not have AMO on the bow and are different in design.

W is the model letter for the Nomad Stalker and it is the 1,602nd one made in 1971.

So not much to it, really.

Don T. Lewis...most of the mid to later 60's bows had bigger tips and the straight decal.

Learn something new here all the time. Some bows you can go by the serial number for the date and some bows like Bears you can’t. It sure would of made dating bows easy if the put the date in the serial number on all bows made. Good thing we have the leather wall! ;)
