A friend makes these out of a chisel. I pick up old chisels at yard sales for next to nothing and he removes the handle, grinds them and glues into a horn handle. Work pretty slick for digging arrows out of logs, stumps and trees. Have only tried them on arrows with field tips.

It really beats using a knife.

Great tool, I always have a pocket folding saw or a Swiss army knife in my quiver. I may try one of those

Nice tool.

"for digging arrows out of logs, stumps and trees"

I avoid shooting those on purpose for that reason.

2Wild Bill, LOL, me too but I'm less freaky about it since getting one of these tools. Plus there are plenty of folks who do stump shoot who would probably find value. I get the most use out of mine at 3-D shoots. Sh*t happens.

Nice of you to share a great idea

Very clever

If you get it pushed into the wood or a crack in the wood and twist it does a good job of opening further, taking pressure off the arrow.

Great, simple idea.

I’ll be making one of those——thanks for sharing the idea

My friends favorite width chisel is 3/4".

I like that! I have some old chisels and tons of antler....gonna have to make a few. A 3/4" sounds about perfect too....can chop a bit then dig. Thanks for posting.

Good idea !

Very Nice, I use a flat bladed screwdriver to dig them out with. Not as nice looking but does the job.

Rock, this is traditional archery, is your screwdriver traditional? Just kidding!

I don't have pictures, but to follow up I had a narrow wood chisel laying around, and had the antler material also laying around--made myself one of these simply because the stuff was laying around to do so. I had been using an old no name short prybar. Again-thanks for sharing the idea.

Glad it was of service. To be honest I’m sure you could use a chisel without the antler handle just fine, like Rock does with a screwdriver.
