I have been going through my bow rack picking out what to keep and what to sell. I had forgotten all about this bow.

I always thought it was an Indian because of the classic Indian-shaped leather piece at the rest. But I couldn't find it in a collection of old Indian catalogs.

It's 58 in. 45# @ 28. It shoots really nicely for a shorter bow or any bow. Much smoother than my 58 in. Grizzly.

The decal says King Cobra. Indian didn't seem to make one of these, but I read somewhere that Pearson changed the name one of their Sovereign line to King Cobra. You can't see it in the photo but in the right light you can see, behind the cobra, the outline of an S with a crown over it which I think the Sovereign had.

So I still want to figure out what year it is. As I said, it's a sweet shooter and I put it in the keeper pile.

Sounds like a keeper. A shame you'd forgotten about it

I think the Indian could have been put on there. They were normally set back and used as the side plate. Maybe one of the experts on older bows will come along. >>>----> Ken

2 Bears, that's what I think now about the Indian. It has started to peel off a bit, but it still sort of functions as a side plate although it is forward of where they were mounted on Indian bows.

Better send it to 2 bears and have that crack on the back of the riser repaired……… Great looking old bow it is!

Smokey, good eye. That "crack" is a partial de-lam. Above the shelf it is fine. I was thinking loctite 420, but maybe it's too wide for that.

Beautiful colors. Hope it is repairable. Too pretty to just let it sit.

The writing looks like Pearson.

Hmm, I just googled "Pearson 1045 recurve" and one pretty much like it just sold on the auction site. It was called the Golden Sovereign. It had the same crown symbol I can see under the cobra. As I said, I recall reading somewhere that they changed the name of some Sovereigns to King Cobra. Wonder Why.

The Sovereigns weren't a model, they were a line of bows that contained multiple models.

There was the Golden Sovereign line, Silver Sovereign, etc.

Sounds like that one is from the Golden Sovereign line.

Beautiful lines on the bow. It’s amazing the style and quality of the old bows and how reasonable they can be bought for.

I’m Wondering if they used the King Cobra decal to cover the Golden Sovereign decal when they found an issue with the bow and sold it cheaper.

Or maybe the Sovereigns weren’t selling, so Pearson came up with a new flashy name. But either way it’s a beauty
