Three of us on the LW acquired a whack of archery equipment that had been in a storage locker in California.
Among the bows that came my way was this beautiful Dick Green target bow. 66" and 35# and beautifully made.
Has wonderful balance and, like all bows by Dick Green, it is built with fine lines and just enough material in the limbs.
It has beautiful tips and tip wedges and the laminates in the riser are functional, yet appealing.
Thanks for looking >>>>-------------> Peter

Jim...did we determine that Dick Green and Joe Fries were making bows in the same place or am I having a senior moment?

All of the gear was just fine…no storage effects.
I just have that bow a quick wipe with some cleanser in water then a rinse.

Thanks for posting pictures. I love the decorative laminates, the thin lines, the Texas sized thumb rest.
Can you date it? Mid sixties maybe?

That appears to be a later "Green" great bows, I shot one for many years in the late 1950's. I wouldn't be suprised if Green and Fries were in the same shop. I believe Joe won the nationals with a Green bow sometime in the 50's-60's

That is a mighty handsome bow. Have you had a chance to shoot it? I bet it will put a big smile on your face.

It is colder than the dickens here so have not ventured out with any bow in some time!
I do not know a great deal about Dick Green so could not hazard a guess on when this bow was made. Truly appreciate aromakr's comment...gives me some clues.
I also have this beauty...Sugar Maple is what I call her! 60"and 50#. I think it was an early one.

Never heard of Dick Green before but its a great representation of a bow from my favorite era- right before target bows went to metal risers. Black widow, bear target bows, hoyt, bud hitt, wing and many others were all contenders. So much variety and solutions to the accuracy problem. Let us know how it shoots.

According to this January 1958 ad in Archery magazine, Dick already had 10 years bow-making experience.

So my "Maple Sugar" is a Morfi made around 1960. That was a very advanced bow for that year! Great to know!
It is one of the quietest bows I have ever shot.

At first I assumed it was maple. But after seeing the ad in this thread, I think it is birch.

Mine is the oldest I've seen so far (6 and counting), it's a 1958 MORFI with a laminated riser made of walnut and maple, walnut color glass for the back, white glass for the belly... it's 38#@28" with a measured of 66" and has the original metal shelf rest...

PDiddly2 - That Dick Green looks to have what I would call a recessed handle. A really deep high grip. But, I have a very little expertise in these matters.
