Jimmy Martin is planning on being there I believe Marc. I've really become fond of this shoot, I guess being the first Traditional Shoot for the year makes it all that more to look forward to.

Anyhow, it will be here before you know it...........

Lori and I just got back from taking a walk out to the gasoline and back. A very hard crust of ice on top of the snow made it interesting.

All that I kept thinking was.....I am glad we are not setting targets in this stuff!

Warmer days ahead guys along with this shoot coming up. Like Paul said above it's a happy sight after a long winter season.

It will be here before you know it. Good Shooting->->->->Craig

Nice PA bull Mike!

Talked to Kraig from Shade Mountain and weather permitting we are going to try and get at least 15 or so 3-D's out on the course. This will all be if the weather cooperates.

The ironman will get set regardless of weather.

Heading over to the Big Buck banquet there on Saturday night so we will probably be talking a bit more about the shoot.

Stay tuned and Good Shooting->->->->Craig

Great photo guys....Keystone?

Were just a tad over a month out right now. Jim Martin from Mahantango Bows will be there and Marc Lauver from PAW bows.

It's going to be a great way to say "See you later February!"

February 26 & 27 Friday and Saturday. Bring your bow, bring your arrows, bring a friend, bring an appetite and bring some warm clothes. We will take care of the rest.

Inside shooting for those that prefer that, and outside shooting for the flip side.

You have Archery gear you want to get rid of.....bring it and put a" for sale" on it.

Looking forward to seeing a full parking lot and smiling faces!

Time for this to the top again.

This bow exchanged hands at Shade Mountain cabin fever last year. Exciting things like that happen at the Cabin Fever shoot.

See you there. - - Marc

I still have that beauty Marc. Unlike most bows I own, that one is not going anywhere.

The guy that I got it off of and the story that goes with it is special!

Less than a month out folks and the crew over at Shade are ready to give you a great weekend. All you have to do is get there.

That was pretty mean, Paul. Gary..I fought a few years ago to get it off the PLA shoot. And accomplished to do it for one year. But certain people dont go to other shoots and dont understand the value of keeping them separated. Blows my mind.

From: monkeyball
Date: 31-Jan-22

monkeyball's embedded Photo

I do not not believe the PLA shoot was held last year, as I had the privilege of hanging out with Gary at the Fever shoot in 2021.

Bottom line is, if you are trying to schedule a Traditional Shoot these days you can not find a date that will work for everyone, just that simple.

On another note.... saw a couple Robins last week on my hike. Spring is on its way for sure.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of you guys at this event, it is going to be a GRAND one by far.

So, stay warm, be smart, and stay healthy. It won't be long!

Paul and Mike,

Wasn't that the guy I picked up that was hitchhiking along RT 6 when we were heading to Denton that year.....said he got his directions wrong looking for a Goodwills store in Potter Co. and ran out of gas........

Good Shooting->->->->Craig

From: monkeyball
Date: 03-Feb-22

Well, I believe we are going to have all kinds of wintry weather ending right before this shoot. Snow, sleet, rain, repeat........ then the skies are going to clear and that yellow orb is going to appear and dry things up!

Raining real good right now, melting snow and washing away the salt that is all over the roads.

Good time to sit down and design an Iron-Man arrow for the shoot, might try to go with wood this year.

So a bit over 3 weeks out. It's going fast.

From: monkeyball

It was the Covid issue Gary, and here it is still shadowing us........by the way, if anyone wants to come but feels uncomfortable because of covid, please feel free to wear a mask.

A lot of this shoot will be happening outside and a lot inside, so that also gives those who may be a bit leary about the group settings a chance to participate also.

I don't take covid lightly, but nor do I let it control my life. I work around it.

So, let's all get together and make this the best Cabin Fever Shoot to date! Good friends, good food, and good targets!

From: BOWDAWG
Date: 07-Feb-22

Do they have any vendors? What about a swap meet??

From: monkeyball
Date: 07-Feb-22

Gary, love the photo of the chicken bbq with the snow in the background. No joke, if you go away from Shade hungry, it's your own fault!

I will have a Jeepful of stuff Jason....which equates to "not much" as I can't get to much in it.

But guarantee.......my clutter will be anothers "needs".

I am also putting together a "guess how many" jar. This is a gallon jar filled with everything under the sun that has something more or less to do with Archery. I count each and every item that goes in it.

It will be sitting at the sign up, or somewhere close to it. Jot your name down with your guess of how many. Closest wins, and gets to take everything home that's in the jar.

This week the temps are suppose to start creeping up so this snow and ice should be losing its grip rather quickly here.

BOWDAWG.......not any or one that we advertise for this get together, although there is always stuff for sale and swaps being made.

Really starting to feel the "can't wait" mode of this shoot. It's going to be a good one!

Every club seems to define " traditional " a little differently and I just wondered if its ok to shoot off a stick on rest for the games or is is it off the shelf only ? Any other restrictions like no metal risers, feathers only , wood only etc. ?

From: Wayne Hess
Date: 11-Feb-22

NO Restrictions, come and just have Fun, That’s what this shoot is all about.

From: Yewbender
Date: 12-Feb-22

What Wayne said!

From: monkeyball
Date: 12-Feb-22

Elevated rest, off the shelf, wood, bamboo, carbon, glass, or aluminum arrows, longbow, recurve, self bow.....all are good.

There are some good shooters there and they take the Ironman course pretty seriously along with some of the scoring games inside. It's a great time whether you are the competitive type or not.

In all honesty it is worth the trip just for the comradeship and the food......everything else is a bonus!

If you never been to this shoot come on out and join us. February 26 and 27 Sat./Sun.

Right now the extended forecast is saying next weekend to be a high in the 30's and cloud/sun.

Considering that last night/early this morning was approaching 60 and now suppose to drop thru the day into the 30's........who knows.

If you don't bring enough clothes and it's cold, you can buy some wool from Jason.

To be honest, I don't put much thought into the extended forecasts. Neither does this guy.

So next week by this time, hopefully some of you will be talking about the great time you had at Shade......targets you shot, food you ate, friends you saw and maybe a deal or two you made!

To the best of my knowledge there are going to be 12 to 15 3-Ds set out on the course and then 8 3-Ds on the Ironman. These will all be outside.

I do believe there will also be some 3-Ds inside along with some novelties.

There will be archery related equipment for sale along with some woolen goods my buddy Jason will be bringing.

Marc from PAW bows will be joining us along with Jim from Mahantango Bows.

A chicken BBQ Saturday with a lot of other good creations to eat coming from the Shade kitchen.

So get dialed in........it's coming fast!

Hail to Chief Monkeyball,, Let the countdown begin

From: monkeyball
Date: 21-Feb-22

Hi Wayne, hope things are well in Huntington Co.

Just got off the phone with Kraig, they have 11 3-D's set up on the top course and the ironman course is set. These are both outdoors. There are more targets inside to shoot. Final touches will be done as needed.

So, as Wayne stated......Let the countdown begin, looking for sun and mid 30's for Saturday. Bring it.

And tip of the day for Shade...... Don't let the "metal get in your mental".......

Last year there was a table set up with a license plate saying NOT ALL PEOPLE WANDERING ARE LOST SOME ARE LOOKING FOR LOST ARROWS. I was going to buy it when I came back from shooting but it was gone. Does anybody know who sold them and if they will have them there again this year. I would really like one.

Craig , don’t matter arrows were made to shoot, and I like pink too, and wife likes to see them fly, even if she isn’t shooting them, She was shooting the camera that Day. Vitals, that’s where your supposed to hit them critters.

In case some are wondering about the weather over at Shade on Saturday......looks like partly cloudy and about 34 for a high.

Get there at 7am have your warm duds on cause it's going to be 22....by 2pm it will be 34.

They had sleet, ice, snow over there late last night and early a.m. today, we did also.

If you plan on doing the outside shoots dress accordingly.

It's going to be a good time, and everyone that is coming safe travels to you all.

See you there. Good Shooting->->->->Craig

Yer' killin me guys..! Foam, fellowship and pit- chicken. A healthy dose of fun and some deals on some new and used stuff, and you have a nice day.

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

Well John, we would have enjoyed having you there with us. We definitely shot a couple up for you.

Despite the chill in the air and icy/snow on the ground we still had 66 shooters on Saturday by the time I left.

Once that big yellow orb climbed into the sky it was really a great day to be out. A bunch of buddies wrapped in wool and shooting bows is always a good time.

Chicken BBQ was sold out in about an hour from what I heard......it was gone till I got there.

The 11 target 3-D course was getting traveled quite regularly the whole day as was the participation in the Ironman event.

Good friend Marc Lauver and some of his buddies came with some beautiful bows as did Jim Martin.

This was our group on the 3-D course...........

The Beauty and the Beast........

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

Let's take a quick walk thru the Ironman course. Difficult target setups, 8 in all, you go in with one arrow and have to come out with one shootable arrow. High score wins.

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

Most difficult target in my opinion......

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

Easiest target in my opinion........

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

Our last target on the Ironman is always the Bionic Buck. 1/4" steel plate except for the vitals which are foam.....with a 10 ring circle for those that are so inclined.

Take notice to the white eye..........

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

So this year they took the Bionic Buck a step further and cutout the eye opening, backed it with masking tape.

The deal was if you came into the last target and were feeling very sure of your shooting or on the flip side, had nothing to lose. You could shoot for the eye.

If your shot went thru the opening and your arrow was still shootable you were awarded 40 pts.

Hmmmmm......

Date: 26-Feb-22

Now, enter Mr. Bob, from up North in PA. He had pulled his camper down Thursday and camped the whole time. Shoots Howard Hill bows and does it well.

He was last years Ironman winner.

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

I had the privilege of going thru with the very first group of shooters and when we got to the Bionic Buck Mr. Bob was first up to shoot.

He stood at the stake and said "I'm going for the eye." And that he did!

He the continued on to tell us it was his birthday today and right out there in the middle of the woods we all sang him Happy Birthday! What a guy!

That shot bumped him up to 79 points. It will be hard to beat.

From: monkeyball
Date: 26-Feb-22

So we ended up with a great day, spending time with wonderful people and breathing in that crisp, clear, February air. No better place to be.

Thank you Monkeyball..! Huzzah to Bob Greene on his fine Hill shooting...! He is usually tough. And it's no wonder John Sweka drilled a new hole with one of his "faster than a jet" longbows..?? They are legendary. Sure beats eating a pre-chewed ham sandwich from "the home"..? Extra slobber and all..! Glad to see such a fine turnout. Peace, guys. Cheers..
