This one is only 27 pounds @ 28”. What was the lightest weight adult Bear Cub long bows came in. This is the lightest one I have ever found.

The 50’s adult Bear Cub is one of my favorite long curves. I’ve never seen an adult Bear Cub in that light weight. Yours has to be a rare Bear. My Cub is 60#, which was the other end of what was available in the early/mid 50’s, according to what I’ve read.

In the summer of '57 this 12 year old saved up his car-wash and grass cutting money and bought his first glass laminated bow,...a 43# Bear Cub. In Sept of that year I used it to go deer hunting for the first time. Wish I still had that bow, a link to the old days.

Wife shot her one and only deer with her 32 pound double shelf cub. After she died I gave archery gear to some Catholic Nuns who wanted to learn how to shoot.

Those old cubs r really good shooters ,and quiet!I have a old ambitious grizzly that I still need to redo...love the old 50s bear bows!

Wasn't the old Cub the predecessor of the old Alaskan from the same form?

The Cub was a straight limbed 62"longbow style from 52-54. Then it morphed into a semi-recurve until '57. Discontinued until '62 when it returned as a 60" semi-recurve. Back to 62" from '64-'67. Full working recurve 62" in '68....and back to 60" full reurve from 69-70. ...a confusing animal to date properly! The Alasksn came out as a 62" semi-recurve in 1958....more confusion! Some years were single shelf..some were double shelf!

BRIBOWL...straight bow or semi recurve? The ser nos. are of no use dating these. Decal types help in dating.

straight bow almost factory new one fine line 3 inch and grip is very clean,

Bribow...as I stated above the straight limb Cub was 52-54. It will have a small running bear decal in 52 to about mid 53. ...53-54 will have a large standing bear decal.

SB, seems the 60"re of mine must be a '62 or '63. Semi , not full recurve, has a light green ?(mint)? glass. Leather grip and side plate just like in your '63 photo.
