New to me BigJim ThunderChild. Perfect length and weight. First go at something different than a recurve. So far, I am digging it but the grip is quite a bit different than anything else I've shot.

That is one pretty bow, they are shooters. I passed on one at Cloverdale few years ago, dumb dumb dumb should've bought it. Congrats on it you've got as good as they come in that bow!

Shoots great Stix! I bought it used and did not pick the woods but I really like them too. Kinda plain compared to other Big Jim bows I have seen but I really prefer that anyway. The tiny tips and slim limbs make this bow very quiet in my opinion. Draw seems very smooth to me and no discenable stack at my 27 inch draw. Not much different to me than my recurves from a shooting standpoint. I can certainly see why these bows have a loyal following. Craftsmanship is outstanding! Very pleased, thanks guys!

I tied two new Barbee style whip-stitch adjustable nock points on the string and flipped it since the serving was worn and seperating causing the nock points to move. Much better! Getting much more used to the grip. The bit of palm swell and thumb rest is different for me but is starting to fit. Shooting it better than I expected at this point. Not sure why I waited so long to try this style of bow. Got stuck on recurves for some reason. Still like them though, not completely turning to the dark side yet, lol! Beyond giddy at this point; loving it!

Now that TX Longhorn and MOAB are no longer made, this is a sweet bow.

What do you guys guess are the woods? Someone mentioned yew, I think that might be it for the limbs and part of the riser. Maybe cocobolo or rosewood for the rest of the riser. Does Big Jim keep records of this stuff?

Walnut riser, elm limbs?

Sent my bow to Big Jim for an inspection and a refinish. Also wanted a small mod to the grip. Jim and his crew took really good care of me. I am very pleased with the work on the bow. They really went above and beyond. Outstanding customer service. Jim got on the phone and made sure we were on the same page. That kind of interaction is really appreciated and becoming more and more rare. Top Notch, Thanks again Jim!
