Appealing to some of you Guys regarding these older 50s bows . I have read some info back that Eddings were made in early/mid 50s and I know the Root GM had many reincarnations over the years. I know that of all the oldies I have handled these two really seem to want to shoot an arrow well. I wonder if using them frequently is really such a good idea but why not. Thanks for any info---rant over for now , Shaftcaster >>>-->

Two amazing looking vintage bows. There are several guys on here that shoot bows way older the those two. “ Old bows were meant to be shot”. When and if they break that’s when you hang them on the wall. Enjoy shooting both those beauties:)

Likely around the turn of the 50's into the 60's. Check out vintagearchery.org and look at the subsequent catalogs there.

The Eddings bow company hired Birnie as the chief bowyer, A Scot who went back to Scotland and began Border archery. Eddings was killed in the summer of 1961 when he crashed his experimental airplane southwest of Pikes Peak state park, McGregor IA.
The Eddings bows were built from clear back in the 40's until his death, but in it's heyday he employed as many as 26 guys.
Which model is stamped on that one?

Thanks for all the nice remarks there Don T. and praise from all others , seems keep shooting them is the way I am glad. Peter you always seem to reel off the dates like you are some kind of encyclopedia . Oh the Eddings is a Sphynx model 68" and the Root GM is 64" if this relates/helps. Wow never thought they could be this old-----Thanks Guys !!

I have a Root Target Master like the bow shown on the right. Yes, I shoot it, why not, thoroughly enjoy it. I've had it for many years. I had a Field Master but no longer have the field master.
