An old bed thrown out for trash pickup, 30 wooden support slats showing, possible maple, too great a treasure to ignore.  Minutes later they'd been rescued. 27" x 2" x a hair under 3/8", begging to become bows.

Added 6" at the grip and glued on back and belly reinforcers of the same material. At that thickness the glued slats would be working so didn't trust the glue, 1/8" bolts installed near the reinforcer ends.

From long use the slats were bowed, giving the bow an inch of reflex. After drawn to 26" at 35lb just-unbraced reflex = 1/2".

Once destined to rot in the city dump these slats now occupy woods happiest state.

Will use a thicker handle splice on the next one, to avoid using bolts.

I have to say. I didn’t see a bow in that pile of kindling. Outstanding! Thanks for sharing that with us.
