looking forward to it too. As are my grandkids. I took them this past year to a few shoots for the first time and they have been asking when the shoots start again.

I am ready for it. But I'm always ready for it.

Our shoot program started again in December. But not all the clubs get going til spring. We'll have 2 in January, 4 in February and then everyone kicks in again come March. 10 or 11 shoots a month in our area. But then we are blessed here in southeast Michigan. What we look forward to is the winter banquets and Kazoo, then all the trad camping shoots. Its coming!!

Hey Frank, good to hear from you! Yes it will be good to see everyone again!

I'm an hour away from two clubs that hold TRAD only 3-D's Nov to March. It's good to have something to do with the gang during winter.

If outdoors, then yeah, but not doing an indoor super spreader event with all the covid about. That would be just dumb.

Still got all of January to hunt

Our first ASA state qualifier is the 3rd week of January in NM. Then the buckle races start in Arizona in Febuary. Most of Febuary through July will be spent in Arizona or NM at least twice a month. I've been shooting my 3d setup for indoor leagues, and I'm very happy with this years set up.

I haven’t shot 3D in years, I worked the weekend shift the last 12 years that I worked. Now I’m retired I going to try and shoot some 3D mostly at Cowtown Bowhunters in Ft Worth and in Abilene Texas.

I believe Baltimore Bowmen has some winter shoots and I'll have to look them up.

I shot my first indoor 3D last Sunday. The league starts Jan. 1 and another club I shoot starts the first Thursday in January. It's two a week for me. The first one was 30 targets 20 to 30 yards and I hadn't shot 30 targets since September and my score showed it.

I greatly dislike indoor archery, too confining. Sometimes the guy next to you is so close he's touching you. Years ago I went to an indoor range. Although it was empty, this guy decided to shoot next to me. He even leaned against me saying it was a good way to practice for league shooting. Well I shot him a few choice words before leaving. Haven't been to an indoor range since. Frank

From: reddogge
Date: 22-Dec-21

Frank, I can see your point but that's part of the pressure cooker of indoor archery, the closeness of the other people. I've learned to deal with it and it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is my friend who shoots all 5 of his arrows in under a minute and then stands right in back of me telling me to slooooow down.

Yes, the buckle series and trad series starts in February. We have to get Javalina season done first. In June things move north to avoid the heat. Me and new bow should be ready in a month.

Our club has been doing a 3D the last Saturday of each month except this coming Saturday. We shot on the 18th instead. Some good ones coming up next month my Diablo winter shoot and sf cabin fever. I hope it rains but not on those days. Sense I don’t hunt anymore I look forward to these events.

From: babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member

Not yet . We still have til the end of the year and then have a 4 day all trad season in the middle of Jan. After that I will be ready.

One league in eastern MA lists dates starting in January but I don't know if they shoot indoors or out. My 'home' league usually starts in mid-March outdoors. Meanwhile we have multiple indoor venues, including paper targets and 3-D, thru March.

Since our indoor shots are 60 arrows and 3D is 30, I shoot a lighter draw for the first 8 weeks or so, then change to my 3D/hunting set-up for the last 4. (About 5 pounds heavier.) I may start even lighter for the first few weeks, endurance ain't where it ought to be...

There are no traditional only shoots within two hours drive for me, so no....not an option to drive four hours round trip to shoot 3D. Matter of fact, there is only one or two clubs that even have mixed shoots around our county anymore. The ridiculous cost of foam animals put them out of the archery shoot business and they fell back to firearms shoots...where the money is....mostly shotgun events. Can't say I blame them for that. Stumps are everywhere where I live, so that's my game. :) I don't mind that at all either.

From: DanaC
Date: 23-Dec-21

George, that's a dam' shame. Here we have an 'embarrassment of riches' when it comes to 3D shoots. On any given summer weekend I usually have 2-3 shoots within an hour's driving time.

I monitor and publicize shoots for social media, and give our archery chairman a list of 'preferred' dates going into the league meeting. Don't want to clash dates with ASA or the other top clubs close by but in the next league over.

That said, I *prefer* the weekend of the area Rinehart 100 shoot, because I get all the shooters who don't like the crowds ;-)

You're absolutely right about high target costs making it tough for clubs. Some have basically resigned themselves to using small targets or old worn-out stuff.

From: reddogge
Date: 23-Dec-21

I only have two traditional only shoots I and go to, Baltimore Classic and Shade Mtn, but I have umpty ump mixed shoots including both clubs I belong to. I shoot with other traditional guys in my crew so it makes no difference if it's mixed or traditional only.

From: HEXX
Date: 23-Dec-21

I shoot 3D mostly with compound shooters which means I need to shoot many targets at the 35 yard line and some diagonal at 37-38 yards indoors. As long as they let me shoot with them I'll have fun.

"Are you ready for 3D?"

I'm ready for next year's archery season. :)

From: Bassmaster

I have a 40 yd. indoor 3d range 12 miles from my house, and three other clubs that we shoot at all winter long. We shoot a variety indoor games. Lots of fun. Then in April it is time to go Bass fishing, but still shoot in the back yard,or stump shoot.

Yes! On a normal year. But after having C3- T1 cervical spine surgery it will be a few months before I can start to shoot again. Possibility my shooting is over.
