I think one of the best things that I have found is how authentic and wholesome most traditional archery manufacturing folks are. When someone asks me about a quiver, a bow or case, it 99% of the time a conversation that starts with “such great people” first. That is extremely important to me and very rare.

Rooty, I love that side mount, have you ever used a strap on ? I have one of those but like the looks of that side bolt on on your Bear takedown, any problems you have encountered with it ? Darryl

Great Northern quiver are excellent quivers I use to use them on my Robertson Montana Falcon takedown bows and my Morrison Cheyenne takedown bow.

Selway and Thunderhorn have far too much bulk and weight for the task.

GN got it right…

Don't forget Eagle Flight Archery Quivers. You can get the side mount conversion kit for them.

Or a new grayling quiver. It comes in side mount, slide on ,or strap on I believe. It has the bear green top on it. What better for a bear bow.

The new Bear quivers also come in green or brown tops.

I have the new Bear quiver. arrows are out a little far from the riser. I like them in closer to the riser.

Eagles Flight Mesa for me. 1 and 3 arrow are so trim.

I have my preference but why start a thread putting down a different brand.

These threads are only beneficial if you actually discuss why you prefer one quiver over another. Fit, function, safety, fletch clearance, noise, cost etc etc.

I have a few GN quivers. Have used Selways in the past and they are good quivers, just not my preference any longer. I like how the GN holds 5 arrows in a tight group but still provides good fletching clearance. More importantly, the GN keeps the arrows close to the riser making the riser balance better for me. I have quite a few quivers of various types from over the years going back to the Asbell (Delta) quiver I bought in the mid-80s. All those other quivers sit further away from the riser and the bow tends to tilt more to the quiver side than with the GN and I shoot better with it on the bow than the others. Yes, it could all be in my head and I know I could eventually become accustomed to another quiver but with the GN I don’t have to.

What Grizz said.Folks like different quivers for thier own reasons.No such thing as best.Just whats best for you and your preferances and what you decide you prefer.

All the quivers made currantly that have been around for decades essentilly and all have thier fans.Many hunters use multiple quivers by different makers.

Some may like a specific brand for side mount.Some may like a specific brand for bolt on 3 piece bows.Some may prefer a certain strap on style over others.

I got like 8 bowquivers in my mancave currantly.

I started with a Selway like 30 years ago on my 1st bow.A slide on for a one piece recurve.Worked great overall.Very well made quivers and tough!

I got a few of Selway slide ons currantly.Both are the Mini size Rawhide with the smaller hood,thier lighter than the larger original hood and have a smaller footprint.I got a longbow and hybrid model.They hold 4 arrows no problem with lots of fletch clearance.Thier totally rock solid and vibration free.Thier very quiet with thier rubber attachments that absorb sound.Thier relatively light.Not heavy at all.Ofcouse not as light as an Eagles flight.

Anyway thats a bad ass quiver and a nice piece of engineering.My Centaur with one is one rock solid tight unit.That feels great in the hand.Like the quiver grew on the bow.Love it!Sure,thier not for everybody.

Yes G.N are great quivers,no doubt.Have used them many times and I like thier company.All the well known bowquiver makers make a fine product IMO.Lots of good choices!

Just a few suggestions for the OP. Personally I like the vintage Bear single spring arm quivers for my Bear Grayling bows, and Kwikee Kwivers for the rest. I own twenty-one bow quivers at this time. I've owned all the quivers mentioned above and all were good, solid and quiet. Really can't say a bad thing about any of them. It's just a matter of personal preference.

If I needed a quiver for a new bow, I would order a Great Northern. I like them a lot after buying the first one. They are well built and light weight.

EFA beats them both.

GN strap on for 60" one piece RC and 4 arrow GFA wing back for lightweight LB. Never tried any others but sure they would work as well.

They're both great companies producing great products and are owned by great people.

Lots of really nice quivers out there now days.

When I first got into it, we made our own bow quivers from cheap foam flipflops. Yes, the kind you wear on your feet. :D

Now though, and for a long time, I am a Thunderhorn guy. I really like the BOA. The one I use most is the one made for Tred Barta, which is a 7 arrow quiver (5 in the hood, and one on each side).

I got away from strap on quivers long ago. I much prefer bolt on, and have converted all my Thunderhors to bolt on.

Couple weeks ago a customer brought in an older compound that needed the string reserved. His same period Bear quiver was missing the gripper so I went to the shoe ben and dug out a pair of flip flops. When he picked up the bow he said, “where did you find a gripper for that old quiver?”. I said “ oh, I have them in stock, and I just through it for free”. ;-)

I personally wouldn't buy either one of great northern/ selway quivers, which i have owned both many years ago. They are great quivers, but they pretty much priced their quivers out of my price range years ago. No way will i pay that price, just to carry my arrows to the woods, There are just as good, if not better quivers out there, for not near the price. You can go to a bow shop that has a box of old compound quivers for little to nothing and throw a strap on it and have a Asbell type side quiver for very little cost. I had a bow shop just give me a quiver.

Not many that I haven't tried over the years. After the snap on Kwickee with no cover in the mid 60's, I used an Apache..same style but had an incorporated hood. In the 70's the the Kwickee as we know it today came on the market. I had Bear quivers and Great Northerns....Selway and Thunderhorn. I loved them all and hated them all at one time or another.

That's pretty much how I am with quivers, but they all have their place and purpose. The old Bear spring arm is as good as any in my opinion, and I do really like the GN..strap on. That said, mostly I use a home made Asbell type when I go hunting. It doesn't rattle and will fit on anything and anyone.

I love all of my selway and my Great Northern. On my bows that I leave my quivers on all the time I go with the slide on Selway, solid as a rock and I love the looks of them. I have a couple bows that I only shoot a quiver on when hunting so I use a strap on Great Northern, for recurves I think the side mount Great Northern is what I favor. TO each his own. Lots of good quivers out there.

I say No Way on any bow mounted quiver.

Back in the old days when I used a bow quiver, it was a Kwikee. easy on, easy off to hang in the tree, and the price was affordable. They still make them, and they are made in Mi. too, right where I just moved from last year.

You can never have to many quivers. This is what happens when you find used quivers cheap and keep buying them. "LOL"

I built two 2 piece side mount bolt on for two risers, and decided to try a one piece compound style quiver from Bohning, called the Lynx. The Bohning is very light, but "buzzy," and I had to modify the block mount channel into which the quiver quick mounts. I never thought I'd say this, but that one piece Bohning is lighter and a hair quieter than mine!

I'm sticking with the Selways for my long bows. They worked well for over 25 years so why switch.

I was asked how to mount a GN on a Satori 19" and under. 1/4" coupling nuts at a cost of 20 cents.

I love my Selway Quivers. Solid and quiet. But, I like to try new set ups. I'm setting up to hunt without a quiver this year for the first time. Can't do that with the Selway slide on and I don't care for the large size of the Selway detach. The GN quick mount is solid, compact and easy take of and mount.

I just bought a second one cuz I liked the first one so much

I ordered over the phone on friday at mid-day a 5 arrow Grayling Green Bear side mount quiver from Selway. Was told it would take a couple days to assemble and then they would ship it out. Came yesterday (monday) in the mail. That was darn quick!

The bad first. I knew this going into it so it's not really a complaint per say but......the quiver is VERY expensive for what it is. The Bear licensing fees must be sky high. You have more options from Selway than 3R and it's a bit cheaper. Still cost me $144 to my door.

The good now. It is VERY well thought out and made. Very light weight. Attachment to the 1/4-20 bushings in my green KMag is secure. Hood is perfect size for 5 arrows unless you are shooting very wide or 3 to 1 length heads. For the typical Ace, Zwickey, Razorhead, Bodkin, Thunderhead, Stinger, etc, etc type 2 and 3 blade heads, it's perfect. When loaded with 5 1916's it does not vibrate or move when hitting it with your hand. Spacing from riser is quite good. Not too far out, not too close. Quite frankly it appears to be a bomb proof quiver for Bear recurves with riser inserts.

Thunderhorn side mounts are the best for me, and the bolt on Thompson Zipper matching quivers. Both, solid as a rock!

I have just about every version of the GN quiver. They are by far the best. I also really like the quivers made by Traditions Leathercraft.

Spent the afternoon shooting the Kmag with the Selway side mount. Dead quiet. No vibration. 100% flawless. I say Selway Yes Way!

I’ve had selway, kinati, German ridge, thunderhorn, and great northern. All great companies that do a good job. I do tend to take my great northerns with the extended hood for my 3 to 1 broadheads hunting more than the others. IMO you can’t beat great northern.

Selway sliders are very durable but on the heavy side and can affect how lighter bows shoot (like ASLs). Great Northerns are light but not particularly durable over time (the rubber straps break, at least on the three I've had). As with anything there are advantages and disadvantages, just have to know what they are going in and accept them or not.

Walker Creek and Selways both add mass and REALLY quiet down my bows.

GN no way

Bow quivers are convenient but for me throw the balance of the bow off.

The Selway Mini slide on rawhide does not weigh much

I use Selway & G.N. both are fine quivers.

I have a Big Jim strap on quiver on my recurve and it’s quiet,efficient, and very affordable. Love it.

I have a gunshy 8 arrow and 3 selways. All great quivers

Another vote for Big Jim's strap on quiver. I love mine.
