There's no money in the traditional side for Pat. Can't really blame him for not giving it any serious attention, but I sure wish he would fix it.

The Leatherwall was my birthplace for internet forums. I grew up here so to speak.

Even though I have my own forum, and other places I like to visit, coming here is like going to visit family where I grew up.

It'll last till the family all move out, or die off, then it'll get sold, or torn down. Kinda like my real home did, but I'll keep coming as long as it does.

Know what I mean?

Rick

I kinda know what ya mean. Been on & off on the wall since 2006-7 somewhere in that time frame was a lurker for several years. Just recently back after a 6-8 month hiatus. And my first 2 posts & then the thread were deleted. Ha ha welcome back. I really like the values of this forum there's a great bunch of folks on here. However I do sometimes put my foot in my mouth. I live what I consider a very traditional life but do not exclusively hunt or shoot with traditional Archery equipment. This sometimes results in conflict of opinions but I've got thick skin.

Yes Rick I do, things are always changing, so some for the good and some not

I understand. This my favorite forum. There is disagreement, debate, etc. That is natural, to me, because we are all different and that is how we would react and discuss in another setting, I think. But it doesn't get shut down - and I don't think it should - like on another popular forum I no longer frequent. After all, steel takes an edge where there is friction. I like different perspectives, because I only have one and, it may not be a full picture. I like the Leatherwall.

Been here since 2005...when I was finally forced into using a computer at work. It was a long learning curve! Now retired and only have an I-phone...that I use for everything but a phone! Still trying to figure it out....

wonder how other sites make money off their trad forums?

babysaph...They sell advertising space and charge members to see and use the classified. IMHO advertising space, OK. Charge for classified, NO.

Like Rick said, we are all kind of a family with everything that comes with that--from beauty queens to warts and friendships and disagreements. But at the end of the day, we are still family. This is one of the few places I enjoy being on the internet.

Yeah Rick, I sure do. I’ve been here for, I don’t know, twenty years? Stick bows are all I use and the Leatherwall is the only archery forum that I really visit with any regularity. Every morning I open it up and fear that for some reason Pat will pull the plug. The collective knowledge here amazes me and even though I’ve been at this for nearly fifty years, I learn something new every week.

My friends are all now dead. Without the Leatherwall I'd have to talk to myself about archery!.....more than I currently do!

That is so true SB. We have disagreements sure, that is life. We also have a lot of like minded people with like minded interest. I have met a lot of good people through this forum I would not have been able to without it, some of them I now call friends and that is something I never do lightly. A number of people here have gone a long way in restoring my faith in humanity and that has been a blessing to me.I have had a chance to re live archery as I remember it from so many years ago and to learn how different those times were depending on where you were in the country. Perhaps the bow should not have been as important in my life as I have made it but it was and still is and it is good to see that there were others who felt the same way, feel the same way today. So I say long live the Leather wall in all it's good and bad but it is where the brothers of the bow go to meet and that makes it special. Darryl

Nothing going on, that I know of.

It was just something I was thinking when on here earlier, and thought I would share.

Other sites don’t have the rustic charm of Leatherwall with its 20th century technology. Kinda like an old house with dripping faucet and creaky floors

Been shooting recurves since 1962, when I was 10 yrs old. Only been on this site since 2016. This is the best source of info about our sport that has ever existed. Cherish it!

I’ve never been on any other trad forum but this one. Kinda still a newbie I guess. Only 8 yrs. I found the information about almost ANYTHING to do with traditional archery to be outstanding. Also the brotherhood and sisterhood of the people on here, not to mention the generosity is outstanding. I also wish the web site was a little more up to date. I’d also put up with paid advertising but not for selling. If it could make it easier to use.

Since June 99' I've been hanging around this site. No matter the subject or the comments, I enjoy it very much......like coffee in the morning :)

From: DaGunz

I’ve been here since 98 or 99 also. Lots of information, lots of characters. Lots of opinion, lots of emotions. But the only place where a prayer request can get hundreds of responses. And where, if you need advice or materials, someone steps up with an offer. Essentially a family. We have patriarchs, brothers and sisters, class clowns, and the occasional black sheep. Some get along better than others. But at the end of the day, there’s more that unites us than divides us.
