Lot of warbles but is anyone doing any good. Mast crop here is crazy this year

awesome. There's a bumper crop this year you say. I've been waking for that. I guess just your area has a good Nast doesn't mean mine will. I've not been yet.

sir misalots,

Average-ish mast crop here; numbers approaching zombie squirrel apocalypse level. Much warmer than average temps for last few weeks and leaves/foliage being held like $100 bills have me waiting (im)patiently. But it's coming: a good leaf drop and hopefully a frost to zap the skeets and it's game on.

I’ve got to figure out when I’m going to go give that a shot. I should definitely do it before the rut picks up too much and the woods are packed with yahoos toting Crossbows.

Just my life but parents weekend up at the college my son is attending is on November 5th and 6th this year, I think…

Must be a bunch of antis in charge of the scheduling. :(

Sitting in a tree watching squirrels burying acorns. Good entertainment.

Around here you can’t even find one. Last years total mast failure really limited them. The FG did a mentored hunt. One girl had one shot out of all participants and this was w gun. Few of my friends are squirrel crazy, haven’t even had a shot and seen almost none. Gotta a bunch of spots loaded w acorns no squirrels. Another spot loaded with hickory, I’ve seen one squirrel in about 4 sits there. I typically see lots. Imo this is a year to rest em around here.

Iowa squirrel. Numbers seem to be about normal here.

I have a few of those tree rats visiting my bird feeders and I been thinking about joining the first shot group but pry won’t. Neighbor lets them into her house

Only squirrels around here are in my yard and birdfeeders. Never see one in the woods anymore. Been that way for years now. If I want to hunt squirrels it's going to have to be an "urban" hunt!

Harleywriter, squirrels inside her house? Ugh....

My brother has the same issue in LA - squirrels are noxious and invasive there, but “animal lovers” are stoking an environmental brushfire by feeding the damn rats.

It’s like Einstein said… “Only two things are infinite. The universe, and human stupidity. And I’m not so sure about the universe.“

All you really need is a good backstop, and a rubber blunt.

I've centerpunched tough old Fox squirrels with a Judo at the base of my stand tree and had them run up the next tree and sit and chew me out!

Yes - in her house. She started by hand feeding them eventually lured them into front entry. “0h they are so cute and they nibble on my toes,” she told me. I told her she’s nuts.
